Hockey collector from GTA

Hey Everyone!

I am a hockey collector but an all around sports fan. I collect Colorado Avalanche and anything else that strikes my eye.

I started collecting hockey cards at a young age in the '90's with my older brothers. Usually just collecting their doubles and opening the odd pack when my dad bought us a hobby box. It was the greatest feeling when you pulled out your favourite™ players, even if they were just base cards. Slowly started to fade out of collecting once my own hockey life got in the way.

Fast forward to the 2013-14 season. I see an ad for the Toronto Sport Expo and thought it would be something fun for me and my dad to do together. As I walk into the huge room filled with cards, I instantly see a hobby I thought once died out to mass production was alive and kicking. Add that to the fact it was the rookie year of two of my favourite players from my local team at the time (Boone Jenner and Scott Laughton) I was easily hooked on the hobby again.

I love opening boxes, putting together certain base sets. (Currently working on 16-17 Parkhurst and trying to finish off 16-17 Upper Deck) and showing off my cards on instagram. About 8 months ago I got into breaks and I am loving them as well.

I look forward to reading everyones insights about the hobby and hopefully taking part in some trades - an area I haven't explored too much of.

willy5588- Welcome to SCF! For me trades are the best part of SCF. It's a great way to exchange cards someone else needs for cards you need.

Great intro, I can really feel the passion you have for this awesome hobby. There are a ton of hockey card collectors on here (myself included!) that can help you learn and experience the hobby immensely, all while adding to your collections along the way.
