Dollar store hockey cards
I got hockey cards at the dollar store but are they important and is there value to them since there are a lot of the 1990’s? Or should I get them somewhere else?

You seem to be fixated on value rather than collecting. In which case you may be setting yourself up for disappointment buying old hockey card boxes.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

Is the price right? Will you have fun looking through the cards and discovering players from a previous generation? If your answer is yes, then I'd consider that a success. But if you're looking for cards with a lot of monetary value, then the 1990s generally isn't the best decade, as other commenters have mentioned.
