The statistical masters at PRO FOOTBALL FOCUS have finished all their 2017 QB evaluations and statistical break downs which are always awesome ... and one of their advanced analytics charts is shocking the lazy and biased media who love to hate on Jameis and praise lesser young QBs ... it is below:
Capturejw.JPG
Jameis was the second most accurate QB in the entire NFL on tight window passes last season, behind only the Golden Boy Tom Brady!
And, to think that Jameis bested every other QB in the entire NFL other than Brady in a season where he played half the games with a seriously injured THROWING shoulder and played the entire year with no support from his running game and behind an average to below average O-Line is just incredible.
I still can't understand why fans who have eyes and can watch games, and have brains and can do their own research, would ever trust or put any stock whatsoever into the lazy opinions of the "talking heads" in the sports media. It's been proven time and time and time again that the research the "talking heads" do consists of watching some highlights, listening to other narratives spun by other talking heads, and glancing at the league standings ... and then spinning a yarn based on such "research" ... it's so absurd.
The simple and obvious fact for anyone who actually watches games and looks into the stats and advanced analytics is that Jameis Winston is the most statistically accomplished QB of his age in the history of football and is on a Hall of Fame pace. Any talking head saying otherwise is at best, a lazy researcher, and at worst, biased and not a credible source of information.Last edited by Jameis1of1; 05-23-2018 at 01:21 PM.

Football Outsiders statistician Scott Kacsmar released the results of the 2017 Passing Plus-Minus advanced metric, and Jameis Winston, in a season in which he played much of it with an injured throwing shoulder, finished 5th in the entire NFL!
Passing Plus-Minus lists are generally dominated by veteran QBs in their 30s and as usual Drew Brees was #1 in the NFL and Tom Brady was in the top 3. However, to see a 23 year old QB like Jameis finish top 5 in the entire NFL is amazing!
The only other young QB to even finish in the top 14 was Dak Prescott at 14th ... Marcus Mariota was 16th, Deshaun Watson was 17th, Jared Goff was 18th, Carson Wentz was 23rd, Blake Bortles was 25th, Derek Carr was 26th, Mitchell Trubisky was 29th and Jacoby Brissett was 30th.
Now, if only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization can build a defense that isn't dead-last in the entire NFL and a running game that isn't a laughing stock, maybe Jameis could go from building a Dan Marino type legacy to building a legacy that includes a SB ring one day ...

This "stat" has some serious flaws in the way it is calculated. I'm not arguing Winston's placement but this "stat" is quite suspect because of the methodology used to compute it. It ends up skewing the list toward pocket passers pretty heavily.

I disagree. Why do you say this?
Regardless, even if it did, it would just be all that more impressive that Jameis was top 5 as he was also I believe either #1 in the entire NFL ahead of Aaron Rodgers or #2 right behind Rodgers as an outside the pocket passer.
However, again, I disagree as five of the top 10 QBs on the list like to move and get outside the pocket quite a bit. Now, I know that Cam Newton ranks 33rd and routinely ranks really low, but I don't think that's because he's not a "pocket QB", rather, it's merely because he's not accurate at all no matter where he throws from ... and I'm saying that as a person who loves Cam.

Looks like he will be suspended for 3 games now. Honestly I don't think that's a big deal since the first three games are likely losses even if Jameis was playing.

By all accounts the Bucs owners figured he'd get suspended whether there was any proof he did anything wrong or not, as we are living in #MeTooMovement times and the NFL cares about public perception more than truth, which is why the Bucs owners were aggressive in their pursuit to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick. Many have reported that the owners will just view the suspension as a 3 game injury and not even worry about it.
The Glazers (Bucs owners) and the coaches and teammates adore Jameis and his GM (who worked with Tom Brady) said he's the best natural leader he's ever been around. This was expected and doesn't change anything in the long run … the young man took an Uber ride and the only witness said the accuser was lying ... the NFL is just playing the P.R. game and wants to have "good optics".
As for an appeal …I'm not sure if Jameis will or even should appeal. The NFL has god-like power over it's employees and Jameis will only lose like $100,000 from the suspension, whereas if he appealed and ended up losing and serving the suspension next year, he'd lose $3,918,750 since he has a monster salary for next year.
However … I also think an appeal is possible, even just for P.R. purposes and to maybe get the suspension "reduced" from 3 games to 1 game, etc.
It's even possible Jameis could actually win an appeal and be the first star player to actually beat Roger Goodell in court … but that's a longshot thanks to the way the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy is worded and how broadly it can be interpreted.
However … winning an appeal is possible, as the Jameis case is nothing at all like the Ezekiel Elliott case.
There was a police report, a medical report, 12 witnesses and even VIDEO evidence against Zeke … there is no police report, no medical report and no video evidence against Jameis, and the only witness on the record corroborated everything Jameis said and affirmed that the accuser made the whole thing up. Jameis would have a great case for appeal, no doubt about it.
As for how this effects the season … it probably doesn't. The Bucs would have been big underdogs in their first 3 games whether Jameis was playing or not, as the Saints at home would be favored over most any team in the NFL and the Eagles and Steelers, even on the road, would be favored over most teams as well.
As for how this effects Jameis' future … it doesn't. As long as he has another passer rating in the 90s (like he did last year while playing with an injured throwing shoulder) this coming season, the Bucs will likely offer him the richest contract in NFL history.

Not so long as the appeals process is heard by Roger Goodell. Seriously, brain fart on the NFLPA to agree to that.

Tom Jones of the Tampa Bay Times is calling for the Buccaneers to cut Jameis Winston.
The Bucs should send a message to the community that they do not accept, condone nor tolerate this kind of conduct. Not from anybody, but especially not from the starting quarterback and the face of the franchise. They should say that who they are and what they stand for as an organization means more than winning football games at any cost, including its integrity.
