    For the Box Breakers

How many of you do it for the money? I know that most people want the satisfaction of busting open tons of packs just for fun. Hoewver, I've noticed that usually 9/10 people lose a lot of money busting boxes. They pay $80 for a box and get a $15 auto and a bunch of base cards.

How many people have actually made a profit doing this?

I have made profit off many boxes. You have to pick and choose your products

It rarely does happen that you can buy a box and be lucky enough to pull something that will pay for the box and then some extra.

Say for instance you purchase 10 boxes of SPx (over $1000).

Chances of you getting a single pull that will bring in over $1000 are VERY slim.

I would say at least 4/5 boxes you don't make your money back.

    Just my opinion though.

    Thanks
    Mike

I purchase for two reasons, fun and for my own personal collection...

Making money back on the boxes is secondary, although I do use the bay rather intently... If I make the money back, so be it, but more often than not.. I don't...

Like right now.. I'm trying to build the WHOLE 2006 Topps Chrome uncirculated red refractor set... VERY VERY HARD to complete considering they come 1 per box as a topper and the rookies are numbered to 25 (Bush, Leinart, Cutler all sell for well over $150).... Any money I make from the cards I just sold on Ebay are instantly turned around to these cards.... It's a never ending vicious circle.. In fact, my card habit has stopped my gambling habit (Hitting the Mohegan Sun casino twice a month)...

I've made lots of money in the last 4 months busting boxes. You need to pick the new product and then sell right away. I busted two boxes of A&G and made 75% of what I paid in just selling SP's, Base lots and mini's. I still have all of the relic cards I pulled. Bowman Chrome I'm actually way ahead, thanks to an Upton auto and some good Xfractors. Busted two boxes of 04 SPx, pulled a rare Ripken SP auto, made a huge profit on that. I think I'm just on a lucky streak.

i usually buy boxes and sell off money cards but keep everything else... i dont make more than i spend but if i spend 100 on a box and sell a couple cards i am not really interested in for 30-40 bucks... i have the rest of the box and spent 60 on it instead of 100... thats the way i look at it

I break boxes for the purpose of building sets. I almost never sell/trade my base cards, and I only sell money cards that will bring in more than I paid for the box they came from.

Oh, I forgot to mention if I were doing this for business instead of for fun I would be bankrupt.
