Advice sought upon receipt of a very damaged card
Hello fellow traders.
Well I guess it was just a matter of time. I just received my first card through a trade that is definitely not what I expected. It is a jersey card with 2 major creases lines through it. The packaging was not damaged and the cards were packaged fairly carefully. I personally believe the card was damaged prior to shipping.
I am going to give this trader the benefit of the doubt that he didn't see the damage (although I am not sure how you couldn't - It is that bad). This was the first trade with this trader - who has a decent user rating.
My question is this....Should I add any moderators from the site to the communications I am about to send? And if yes, who?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions that you can offer.
Chris

Chris-
Personally, I would first try and reach out to the trader to see if some kind of resolution can happen on its own before any moderators are involved. Try and figure out what would make things okay on your end and then vocalize that to the person you made the deal with. Giving someone the benefit of the doubt and going that route will often give the best results. Take pictures of it (the card) from a close view so you can back your statements. Good luck. I've been on both ends of this before but have always found that things go so much smoother when nobody is coming at you from the angle of the blame game.

I agree with the previous comment. Don't think you need to involve anyone at this point. Just let him know you received your cards but one is very damaged, you guys can try to come to a fair resolution. If unsuccessful then you can proceed to involve a moderator. I have also been on both ends of this and have not needed any moderators assistance because we tend to come to an agreement on how to proceed

As above, see if you guys can resolve between yourselves, and if it doesn't work out you'll want to contact someone from the Dispute Team. Good luck squaring it away.

As the others have said try to contact the other trade and work things out. As I think anyone would want to be given a chance to try to make things right first instead of being contacted by a moderator. As you never know this person might be the one to land you a white whale in the future so why burn bridges by not giving them a chance to make things right.
