Richard Sherman released by Seattle Seahawks
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...attle-seahawks
Sherman told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero he has been released by the Seahawks after seven seasons in the Pacific Northwest. Sherman's departure opens up $11 million in salary-cap space for the roster-churning 'Hawks.
During an interview with KIRO-FM's Gee Scott on Friday, Sherman said, "We've had conversations and they've told me that they're going to allow me to go into free agency.
"But they want me to understand that the door's open for me to return. They're just trying to do what they need to do to clear up space and give me and them the best chance at free agency, and I've got to appreciate and respect that."

I am not sure if he is worth 39 mil but I think if he can stay healthy the 49ers should be able to compete with the Seahawks!
Looking for Aaron Judge cards, current Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs!

It's only 39 million if he makes all his incentives and stays healthy. Good deal for both parties in a lot of ways as it protects 49ers should Sherman not come back from injury or produce, and if he does produce he can make more then he was with the Seahawks.

What I like about Sherman's game is that he could transition to safety once the speed starts to go and still carve out an excellent career for himself.

The $39mil is a joke number ... apparently the contract is insanely incentive-based and to even get the $13mil in the first year he'd have to play all 16 games and make the Pro Bowl or All-Pro team. I agree about him moving to safety ... that may be the best thing for him if he doesn't recover all his pre-Achilles athleticism as he's a smart dude and a ball-hawk that could be a fine free safety for the 49'ers ... it's just that safeties aren't worth $13mil a year ...

Seattle is fading fast! Good for the 49ers and Rams.

I hate this time of year, along with others who feel the same. I understand why the Hawks released him, but it could be a mistake in disguise. They had a revolving door on the other side until Griffin won the job as a rookie. Now Sherman's side will be the same. When reading the reports, it was written that Sherman and the Hawks were to meet Wednesday to discuss a possible new contract, but the next day he signs with the 49ers. Seems like there wasn't really a test of the market lol.
The Hawks lost their 'chip' on the shoulder after the SB loss against the Patriots. For those back to back years, they had determination and fire. After the loss, they became content. They got their ring, and now it was about money. Everybody wanted to be paid, not realizing they were hurting each other. Instead of being a team, they started to become a team of individuals. Yes these guys do deserve to be paid, however, when is too much, too much? I look at the other teams, past and present, who have been able to keep their core players for many years. Sometimes for careers. They were able to win multiple SB's and be a constant playoff threat. They were a family. Not saying the Hawks aren't a family and that they're not playoff threats.
Sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
I appreciate Sherman for what he helped bring to the Hawks, the city of Seattle and to all the Hawks fans (real fans). As much as it hurts to see him in a different uniform, I wish him the best. I hope he can return to form. I wish he could have started and ended his career here. He will always be a Seahawk and will one day be in the Ring Of Honor.

The 49ers are on the rise while the Seahawks are falling but I don't think either will be able to catch the Rams. I'm willing to bet they run away with the division next year (outside of major injuries) and maybe compete for the Super Bowl if they draft well.
