Montreal Media Creating, Debunking, Fake News Stories
You know it’s summertime when the
SubbanMontreal Media starts churning out fake news only to debunk their own malarkey. This week we have “learned”:
Max Pacioretty was going to hold out at training camp if he wasn’t traded before the season starts. (Journal de Montreal)
Jonathan Drouin suffered a leg injury that would keep him out for the entire season. This one actually got enough legs behind it that Drouin’s agent, Allan Walsh, had to step in on Twitter to say, no, false and go about your business.
Thank goodness Carey spends his summers here in Kelowna so these vultures can only make up garbage DURING the season.
Man, I miss the days of Red Fisher and Dave Stubbs as the main guys in Montreal. They were both tough but fair. This fool Brendan Kelly has a personal vendetta against Bergevin for trading Subban—he rips the club at every opportunity, including a piece today saying that the Habs have been always mediocre since 1993. The guy is a such a tool I actually blocked him on Twitter.
Any other fun Montreal stories “happening” for us to put in the annals of the Bowling Green Massacre? Never remember!

I hate these things.
Sports reporters don't exist anymore. It's all about drumming up chatter about nonexistent things to get "likes" and subscribers. The crazier the story, the better.
The Speculation Network (TSN), The Athletic, and Sportsnet are famous for stuff like this. Remember the Olympics? The Athletic posted a "projecting NHL Olympic rosters" article. Seriously? The NHL didn't go, so it was a waste of time for the author and the reader. Stop speculating and daydreaming and report on things that are guaranteed to happen or have happened.

Sports coverage is this country has become absolute trash. I wonder what creative fluff article will be written for the Toronto Sports Network (TSN) today, just so they can include the Tavares name. What do you mean Canada has other sports teams.

The sad truth is this isn't just a sports thing. It's news in general. There isn't enough money to be made giving your news away for free... so much of what's out there is designed to get clicks.

I agree.
And to your point about the Olympic roster articles, I saw a lot of those too. In fairness to the news outlets though, I noticed them more when there was still a chance (albeit a very, very small one) that the NHL could get a deal done before the tournament. We all pretty much knew they weren't going to go, but there technically was a small chance due to the timeline. So Olympic roster articles with/without NHL players still sort of 'had there place' in the sports news world.Jhonas Enroth Card Collector & Host of the Hidden Content

In today's news, Max Pacioretty is snubbing Geoff Molson, Marc Bergevin, and Claude Julien by not having invited them to his annual golf tournament later this month.
In reality, Max Pacioretty hasn't sent out invitations to anybody for his annual golf tournament later this month.

I would imagine he's holding out to see what happens?

Some are/were very good like, as yoiu mentioned Dave Stubbs. Arpon Basu, Brian Wilde and Grant McCagg are also excellent, just to name a few. Unfortunately we also must deal with guys who seem to hold a grudge against the team, like Andrew Berkshire.
edit:I forgot Marc Dumont. Also great. He even gets every Seinfeld or Simpsons reference you throw his way.Last edited by subban7677; 08-14-2018 at 07:30 PM.
