Exclamation Timberwolves’ Jimmy Butler Requests Trade To Either The Nets Knicks Or Clippers

    https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2018/09/...sts-trade.html

Timberwolves All-NBA swingman Jimmy Butler has requested a trade, league sources tell Jon Krawcznyski and Shams Charania of The Athletic. According to the duo, Butler has given Minnesota a list of one to three teams with which he’d be open to signing a long-term extension, informing the Wolves that he doesn’t intend to sign a new deal with the team next summer.

The Nets, Knicks, and Clippers are Butler’s three preferred destinations, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (via Twitter).

Butler hasn't been traded yet and is now being obnoxious and unprofessional to both his teammates and Wolves personnel; so very disappointing:

I love Tolliver's response. What a contrast between him and Butler; such a classy guy. So happy he's from my city. :)

Too bad they didn't give Butler instead the money they gave to Wiggins. Wiggins is a complimentary player, who's mostly a one trick pony who plays half ™™™ often.

Butler is by far their best player and they should have accomodated him if they truly want to win now. That's where the disconnection is between ownership and management. Thibs is a Butler guy, and not everyone was on board with that.

This thing has just started. While they try and regain some of Butler's trade value it wouldn't be super surprising if other changes are made internally. It seems pretty obvious that Thibs and owner Taylor aren't on the same page.

KAT is obviously the franchise player and core in whatever they do. They just need that 2nd star player who buys into that. Teague and Wiggins seemingly know and accept their roles.

The most intruiging of the Butler trade talks has been Josh Richardson. Like Butler he's also a 2-way player, who plays with a high motor and has a growing offensive game. On paper he would offset Wiggins deficiencies nicely.

In the East, Miami would be a real player with Dragic, Whiteside, and their bench. But aside from the financials maybe they just see Richardson as sort of a younger version of Butler with a lot less miles.

The Wolves never get it together with the talent they have. Kevin Garnett had his MVP season there, but had to leave to get a championship. Same with Kevin Love. Butler hasn't handled his situation well, but it would be best for him to leave. Minnesota fans still boo Love; they will probably deafen the arena when Butler leaves and plays against Minnesota at Target. But perhaps they should save all their ire for the franchise itself, which has no Finals pedigree to speak of.

The Wolves came really close with KG, Sprewell, and Cassell. If Cassell had not gotten hurt in the playoffs, who knows they may have made a real serious run against the Lakers to make the Finals. It was doable.

Kevin Love was scapegoated. He's never been an elite #1 caliber player even though he had the high usage and put up insane numbers. He never had any considerable help around him to go anywhere. Even though he was a defensive liability he always played hard. He wanted to leave to go play on a better team that was going somewhere - sue him.

But yeah it all starts up top, and it would be best if Glen Taylor conceded the majority of the managerial duties because he's stunted the organization on more than a few occasions. He's likely never going to sell, and probably won't ever change, so they need to luck out in a KG-type way.

Towns is the best opportunity they've had to do that since, now he just needs to grow up to turn that next corner. He's everything you want in a franchise player. He has elite physical tools on both ends, he's a leader, and he plays with passion. The only downside to that is his emotions get to him far too often where he ends up taking plays off because he's preoccupied.

Towns could use a mentor and Butler maybe isn't that type. For a special talent you need a special mentor. I don't agree with how Butler handled everything publicly, he made a mistake. But it's hard not to be a fan of the guy when you look at his career trajectory, and the fact that he plays both ends of the floor equally. He wants to win, in a tunnel vision way, which has left the team chemistry at the wayside.

Butler doesn't deserve all of the blame here. It takes two to tango, or maybe three in this case when looking at the nucleus of the team. Towns can be a baby which grinds on his teammates, and Wiggins can be so passive at times that a stiff breeze could blow him over. Those traits could make it hard to work with somebody, especially someone with the work ethic of Jimmy Butler.

Obviously it's not going to work in MN, and it's just a matter of time. Hopefully the Wolves don't concede to a draft pick heavy deal because they haven't exactly had the best luck there, nor has their player development been anything stellar. They gave up 2 good young players for Butler, so they need to get someone better than Eric Gordon in return. I'm holding out hope that Josh Richardson is the main piece in any deal.

LOL Rose scored over 50 when Butler sat. Didn't know he still had that in him; he never looked particularly good for the Cavs last season, and even took a leave of absence for personal reasons.

Anyway, Butler comes back last night, and Rose hardly gets any time. Another L.

The Wolves, Cavs, and Wiz will have to shake things up before the trade deadline.
