Tyronn Lue fired

Long overdue, IMO. Watching his head-scratching lineups and lack of organization and systematic rigor has been frustrating. Almost all of Cleveland fans who have followed the team closely the last few years know what I'm talking about. Nice guy, but not a good coach.
Assistant coach, Damon Jones, was also canned.
Larry Drew is the interim coach.

sounds like the uppers wanted him to play younger guys and not Korver and Smith and Lue wanted to play them. They were going to lose a bunch of games this year so shoulda played the younger guys to see what they can do.

Yeah his lineups have always been head-scratching. He showed bias all last season to guys like Smith and Thompson even when they were performing horribly. He never found the right balance. Like this season, he's been reluctant to give opportunities to Sexton, and when he does, he plays him alongside a chucker like Clarkson, which isn't tactically optimal for Sexton's development. It's driven Cavs fans nuts for quite awhile. I know the vets have a lot of loyalty to Lue, but they're going to have to deal with learning how to mentor the younger players. This falls on Thompson, Love, and all the other vets. They learned how to sacrifice to win a title; now it's time to learn how to teach younger players and play alongside them.

Well they already got their first win without him, and without Love either. Granted, it was against Atlanta, but at least they're out of the donut.

A step in the right direction post-Lebron. Next should be showing Smith and Thompson the door. But who are they going to focus their development on? Sexton is a nice player, but is his upside worth investing in? Not a lot of talent on that roster. They are years and years away.

Smith and Thompson are hard to move because of their contracts. Also not sold on Sexton. He's aggressive, but he hasn't shown much basketball IQ yet--he has a set idea of what he wants to do each time and will run with it regardless of contextual tactics. But who is going to teach him? George Hill is a passive systems player playing on a team with very little structure or system, Rodney Hood is a passive and inconsistent shooter who no longer has the confidence in the 3-ball, Jordan Clarkson is a black hole with no vision, and wild old chucker Smith certainly isn't going to teach him much of anything, lol.
Obviously they will need to make moves of some kind by the trade deadline again. This roster doesn't cut it either now or for the future, and with Love out for six weeks, the scoring is down and there's no leadership on top of all the other problems.
