Flickr Storage Limit - Effective January 8th, 2019
I received the email regarding Flickr's new policy that will become effective on January 8th, 2019.
Free users will now be capped at 1,000 photos or videos.
After January 8th, users will no longer be able to upload new content if they have surpassed this new limit.
Also, If you have more than 1,000 photos and videos on your account, your content will be automatically deleted to meet the new storage limit starting February 9th, 2019.
More information can be found here on their site:
https://www.flickr.com/lookingahead/...ent=1000photos
I went into my Flickr account today and deleted some photos I didn't need, so I am currently under the 1,000 photo/video limit (currently at 868). I guess I'll need to keep a watchful eye on that number moving forward. Sucks, but that's the way it goes. I kinda felt this coming when Flickr was purchased by SmugMug.
Will you be moving to something else or switching to the Pro version of Flickr? I believe it's $50 annually for unlimited storage.Last edited by creasecollector; 11-06-2018 at 01:24 AM.

I got that notification too. I figure all photo-sharing sites will follow Photobucket's lead.
I don't have PayPal or a credit card. Sorry folks, but I guess I'm out of the hobby.
Not only are packs, boxes, and shipping costs for trading rising continually, but now having to pay if you want extra storage is terrible.
The hobby truly has become a rich person's pastime.
Disgraceful...Last edited by Leafsman; 11-06-2018 at 06:11 PM.

Agreed, just use the inventory manager here on SCF and get away from that Photobucket/Flickr trading.
The only thing I use my Flickr for is when I post photos directly into threads on forums. Typically box breaks on this site and fishing photos on other sites :)

you don't even need to do that
the CLICK HERE TO ADD PHOTOS TO POST will allow you to interface with postimages.org. Accounts there are free and it will allow for auto-generation of the code needed for posting

It makes perfect sense, and I can't blame flickr (or any free site like it) for doing it.
The actual revenue they can generate from adds is dropping by the day. They make some $$$ from it, but it's harder and harder to actually make real dollars from it.
They're giving away storage space. That costs money. They can't just give away a service without having a way to monetize it. If add revenues are declining (and they are) then charging for a premium account, while limiting what a non-premium account can do, makes total sense.
It's either that, or close up shop. They can run in the red perpetually. CLICK HERE TO ADD PHOTOS TO POST

My biggest issue is that I'll never be able to upgrade to their pro account. I don't have a credit card or PayPal, so once again, I don't matter to them. If you want an explanation why I have neither of those things, by all means, send me a PM and I'll happily explain.
