Set Showoff
I wanted to share another set I have been working on since 2012. I am just as proud of this as I am of my Super Bowl set.
This set began to release in 2012 National Treasures. There have been updates of 2014 National Treasures adding Thurman Thomas, 2016 Honors added Roger Staubach, and 2016 National Treasures added Mike Ditka. Most of the print runs for everyone are to 25. The exemptions being Dwight Clark to 50 and the SSP Emmitt Smith to 10. Everything has been graded to BGS 9.5. I am still needing 3 auto upgrades from 9s to 10.

CONGRATULATIONS DrunkTrojan on amassing such a magnificent collection and THANK YOU for sharing all those pics … I mean, really, what a beautiful set!
I don't think I've ever conversed with you before, so I'll ask a few questions I'd love to see the answers to:
1.) Who's your favorite player and team?
2.) What made you pursue this specific set, other than the obvious (it's a stunning set to look at and filled with the greatest players ever)?
3.) Did you purchase the cards already slabbed, or buy them raw and submit them to BGS yourself?
4.) Are you OCD like me, to the point that if you got a BGS 9 instead of a 9.5, you'd sell it and keep pursuing the specific card until you got a 9.5?
5.) Which cards in the set are you missing and have any been incredibly difficult to track down?
THANKS AGAIN for sharing … AMAZING CARDS!!!!!

Thanks it is one of the cleanest sets out there in my opinion.
1.) Who's your favorite player and team?
Favorite team is the Denver Broncos. Favorite current player is Von Miller, but I have favorites from all different eras.
2.) What made you pursue this specific set, other than the obvious (it's a stunning set to look at and filled with the greatest players ever)?
I opened some 2012 NT trying to hit Luck or RG3, never hit anything big for either. I did hit a Jerome Bettis for the NFL Greatest set, and fell in love with the look of the set. I saw that Elway and McCaffrey were in there and started the ball rolling.
3.) Did you purchase the cards already slabbed, or buy them raw and submit them to BGS yourself?
I think I have subbed them all, but might have picked up one already slabbed along the way. I was hoarding all that I could for a while, but have sold of most of my doubles for funds to other sets or grading.
4.) Are you OCD like me, to the point that if you got a BGS 9 instead of a 9.5, you'd sell it and keep pursuing the specific card until you got a 9.5?
Very OCD, but I never sell them till I get the grade I am trying for. One I don’t want to rebuy them or end up with a worse quality. Plus gold looks so much better all together. Some have asked if I get a BGS 10 would it kill your OCD, for me no, maybe a black label but those I think are impossible with thick stock cards.
5.) Which cards in the set are you missing and have any been incredibly difficult to track down?
I am missing Marcus Allen and Marvin Harrison but only cause Panini hasn’t filled their redemptions, been waiting on them for 6 years now. I have been told they were lost by the player. I would say some are rarer to list like Starr and Montana, but got those early and cheaper than the last sales I have seen. The hardest is Emmitt Smith cause there are only 10 out there. I had to buy a near complete set to get mine but also helped upgrade a few others that had the ugly silver.
It has been a long journey and was so happy they brought the set back in 2017 with 38 new players. Those will be posted as I get the gold for them.

For me I prefer BGS over all other grading companies and PSA if I were ever to do vintage. I am not concerned with price if it is worth it to me.

That's cool … I've never had any luck busting wax but there have always been some sets that just "stood out" to me as well … the first one I loved was way back in 1992-93 and was the "Beam Team" set from Shaq's rookie year, hahahaha. It looks kinda silly now I guess but I really liked it when it came out. And with football cards, I used to love "Playoff" and thought the Playoff Absolute "Quad" cards they came out with and even the Playoff Contenders "Hog Heaven" cards were cool … I remember those "quad" cards sold for a pretty penny back in the day.

I completely understand! I had to force myself to be okay with the BGS 8.5s I received on the two 2015 Imacculate shield auto'd 1/1 Jameis RCs I got back from BGS … and the BGS 9.0s I received on some other shield auto'd 1/1 Jameis RC's I got back from BGS, as theirs nothing I can do about since they are 1/1s and there's no other copies … but I'm just so glad that all (4) of his "Mount Rushmore" cards came back with BGS 9.5/10 grades as that really, really, really would have bugged me if one of those cards received a 9.0 … I'm like that about most everything though … if a painting in my house is set 6" off center on a huge wall, it will drive me nuts, hahahaha ...

Thanks for letting me know, as I didn't know much about the sets … someone needs to kidnap Marcus & Marvin and stick a sharpie in their hands until they're done … maybe O.J. Simpson is available for that job? Hahahah ...

I look forward to seeing all your updates … have a magnificent Thanksgiving!
