Panini America Provides Detailed First Look at 2018-19 Court Kings Basketball (Gallery)

It’s colorful. It’s charismatic. It’s creative. It’s captivating. It, of course, is Panini America’s art-inspired Court Kings Basketball franchise — and when it arrives for the 2018-19 season in early April, it will do so with some bold new twists sure to elevate the brand to even higher heights. For starters, hobby boxes (10 cards per box, 16 boxes per case) will deliver, on average, two autographs this year as well as two Rookie Cards, two inserts and one parallel.

Like the Court Kings creations that have come before, 2018-19 Court Kings Basketball will deliver some of the most visually stunning designs of the year and the four unique Rookie Card tiers per player that become increasingly rare.

I've always liked this set as a short set build, because it's pretty easy to piece together and it pops in a binder. But ultimately the price point just isn't there for it's box value. They should either add more cards/packs to the boxes for set builders, or number all the base cards and shorten the set instead. It seems like sort of a collector's limbo as far as direction. It also lacks parallels, with the tiered RC subset a fail. Topps is the only one that can successfully add SP's as part of it's base set without it being too off putting. However, I do like how they have made some of the insert sets exclusively SSP's. I will likely put the short set together again over time, but I won't be buying anymore wax unless they do something different.

I totally agree. I often have some interest in this product, but the price point is usually too high for what you usually get back. I did buy 2013-14 and 2014-15 boxes awhile back when the prices dropped (this was right before Giannis' breakout; I imagine 2013-14 is hard to find now).
