Upper Deck Shares Redemption Update
From Facebook:
Upper Deck is making huge strides with reducing the use of unplanned autograph redemptions in packs of cards. Several of these strategies have taken years to fully implement and are starting to pay dividends. Beginning with 2018-19 NHL MVP through 2018-19 NHL SP Game-Used, Upper Deck has released eight (8) products in a row for this season that have ZERO unplanned autograph redemptions in them. We look forward to keep this momentum going this season and in years to come!
Now, these posts have a tendency to turn into, "What's going on with my particular redemption?" We do not make it a habit of sharing when we anticipate a particular athlete will sign because their schedules change all the time. What we can share is this, if you've been waiting over 45 days for an autograph redemption card, we are happy to get you a comparable item if you provide us with your favorite team or list of comparable players to [email protected]. Should you have inquiries about a particular redemption concern, direct message us on this page or give us a call at (800)873-7332 so we can assist.
Additionally they stated that they have a resolution strategy in place for a number of ongoing long-term SP Authentic Future Watch redemptions:
We are looking to close these out this year. We're making one last run at the athletes. We may produce non-signed versions so fans have a card to fill in their sets and then include an autograph card as well to go out with them. Finishing up plans there, but you will see movement on all of these this year.
And they also mentioned that they are going to try to get Pastrnak to sign at All Star Weekend indicating that he is their top priority.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

the last part is really important for me, i'm glad they finally addressed that directly and clearly (as a person waiting for an SPA redemption from 14-15 as a set builder)
I won't be jumping with joy if they produce it as non-autographed and include an auto card with it - but it's probably the best resolution I could expect considering the circumstance, so I'll be satisfied when/if that happens - maybe that 14-15 set will FINALLY be complete someday. It was starting to seem impossible.

Just get Pastrnak Cup RPA signed and other big redemptions.
No one cares that MVP and SPGU don't have redemptions....no kidding, they are all stickers.
Redemptions would be ok if the timeline was 6-12 months max

As noted in the original post, UD has identified Pastrnak as their #1 priority player at this time.
The real challenge for them will be in the coming months, as we get into the products featuring hard-signed autographs. Chronology will also be a large undertaking.

One thing that this unplanned redemption announcement didn't take into account is that there are no Dahlin rookie auto cards yet in redemption or live form

First time I've truly been impressed with Upper Deck's solutions and straightforwardness regarding important issues to a large section of customers. Finally people will see closure in a very frustrating roller coaster.
Kudos UD.
