Interesting...Flacco has been a big-game QB in the past, and pairs pretty well with a good defense and running game. Curious to see how he does.

I’m not sure what you mean by elite trade. But I say no though. No trade coming out of Baltimore would be an elite trade. The Broncos got better and will be a playoff team next year with him. That’s about it in my book.

Joe Flacco super bowl rings = aaron rodgers super bowl rings...

Aaron rodgers is elite, therefore joe flacco is elite...

This trade involved joe flacco, therefore it is an elite trade!

$28 million cap hit, even if one is cut.(flacco, keenum)

Neither is the future. Ravens delighted to get a 3rd rounder for him.
They were going to cut him.

I’m not sure what you mean by elite trade.

Sure I can explain it. Back in 2012 the Ravens won the Super Bowl based on Joe Flacco's earth shattering performance during the playoffs. The Ravens went 4-0 and Flacco threw 1,140 yards, 11 TDs, and 0 interceptions his QB rating was 117.2. This shows elite level quarterbacking.

During the regular season however, the Ravens were 10-6 and Flacco posted a rating of 87.7. Say what you will about the value of rating vs QBR or other advanced metrics, but an almost 30 point gain in rating will raise eyebrows. That was a thoroughly pedestrian rating and about what he was averaging for his career at that point. This shows not elite level of talent.

The magic comes from the fact that Flacco was coming off of his rookie deal and division rival Browns were heavily rumored to make a strong push for Flacco. So based on a single playoff run, Flacco became the highest paid player in history at that point in time.

Ever since then, his supports would say that Flacco was elite. His detractors would say that he was in fact not elite. As seasons went by, wins and losses, touchdowns and interceptions, the debate raged on and on.

You can find examples from every single year. Many memes have been created poking fun at the question "Is Flacco elite?". So when I asked if this was an elite trade, it was a modification on the original meme of is Flacco elite. Because you see if the question on whether he is elite, then it creates additional questions on anything involving him is also elite. If he had been cut and signed by another team, I might have asked "but was it an elite free agent signing". 5 years after he retires I will ask the question, "is the Hall of Fame elite enough for Flacco?"

And to answer the unasked question, yes this big long response is next level trolling on my part.

I think he will do well in Denver. There is two things Joe has to have to succeed; A good running game and good protection. Combine that with a good defense, and I think he can take them to the playoffs.

John Elway is basically the Jordan of football. He had talent but can't really judge talent. Nothing wrong with that but I sadly don't see Flacco as the QB answer in Denver.
