With the release of 2019 Topps Heritage, which draws inspiration from the original 1970 Topps base set design, just a few days away, we couldn’t think of a better time to refresh collectors’ memories of previous Topps Heritage sets. The general premise of the Topps Heritage sets is to mimic the original Topps set that occurred 49 years prior.
Since the inception of Heritage in 2001, collectors have flocked to the release for a variety of reasons, most notably nostalgia. Heritage is a nod to the days of collecting that are long behind us when sets ruled and autographs, relics, and Refractors weren’t even a blip on the radar. It also allows those of us that weren’t alive in the early days of collecting to see what our heroes of today would look like on card designs from the 50s, 60s, and now, the 70s!
After the review of past releases, there’s a preview of what designs should be coming in the next handful of years for the fan-favorite Heritage line from Topps.
