If the tracking showed as delivered, what reason could they possibly give you for not ruling on your favour?

If the tracking numbers shows as delivered, the buyer can state that they simply never got it .... which could be true. The postal worker could have left it on the persons door step, and it could have been stolen. Without signature confirmation, it could technically be received by anyone.

I was always under the impression that if the package showed as delivered, you were covered under seller protection (yes, that's a thing) and ebay refunded the buyer out of their own pockets.

Basically tracking only proves that the package was delivered to the doorstep of the buyer. The buyer could reasonably argue that when they got home, the package was gone. Signature is the only way to prove that the package made it directly into the hands of the buyer, nothing less.

Ebay will do that but paypal won’t. I’ve been in dozens of arguments on the phone with paypal on this subject. I lose every time. They don’t care about the people paying all the fees. They care about the buyers.

Yes, you are correct. If it shows delivered Ebay/Paypal will either refund out of their pocket or will tell them to contact the police/postal investigator (depends on their past history). Not sure what the others are saying, unless Canada Post situation is different. Signature is only required on Paypal transactions over $250.

It’s actually only required $750 and up now. Used to be $250

We all know it’s a part of doing business on Ebay. I don’t sell a lot of cards there but do sell a lot of other stuff. For me, the percentage of losses outweigh the gains on that site. I’m sure there are certain categories that have a higher rate of these situations and maybe cards are one of them. Whenever I have an item that I don’t want to “eat” there’s only 1 choice. Signature confirmation and insurance. Even that won’t completely save you from a determined scammer. In the end, if they want it for nothing they can have it.
