It's a tough business. The best way to make money is to buy boxes when they are first released of a strong rookie class (like this year's football class), and then keep them unopened and wait for the players to develop. also, the other way is to be a prospector, which means you collect cards of prospects that you hope will develop into stars, but it's a hard business.

If you're serious about the money side of it check often with the 'Completed listings' on ebay. That gives you a general idea of what a card goes for if you put it up at that given moment, but don't look too far back within the completed month results could be skewed. The best way to think about it is if there is a rookie on Sportscenter that night who made a 'Web Gem' or hit 2 HRs sell it in a 24hr. auction because if you take the week long auction he could be back on the pine. As long as you're willing to win AND lose money go ahead and do it. It's a mini Wall Street, it's sad that it's not as kid-friendly anymore.

The best slogan for making money is, "Bulls and bears are winners, pigs are left for slaughter."

make sure you sell on the weekends...around 8 oclock is the best in my opinion...if you want to make profit you have to be willing to take risks...ur best bet in my opinion is collect a player who got hurt and collect his cards (prospect) his cards will have gone way down and if he comes back strong you'll turn a nice turnaround...just my opinion

absolutely you can make money. In response to the guy that told you to buy boxes of new product or any wax for that matter...If you are looking to actually make money selling cards...NEVER BUY A WAX BOX AGAIN...PERIOD.

Yeah, one can have a big hit, but if you play the percentages, you will lose so much more than you will make.

The main thing is to network and find outlets to find product. You'll want to buy in bulk as that's the best way to maximize your money. If you want to buy high dollar singles here and there you probably won't make a lot of money doing. Sure, you'll make some, but nothing as far as considering an actual business.

^^^^ that is so far from the truth. Are you going to tell that to the guys smart enough to buy exquisite basketball when it first released ( I had 2 cases that I wished I had back that I sold for 2050 each) who can now resell those cases for 3000-3500 or more?

He is correct with the buying bulk. the more you by at once the better.
