That's awesome... I'm tempted to list dozens of Lidle RCs and base on ebay with a BIN of .01 and S&H of .01 just to kill the market.

If you want to fight it use your head and wallet

OK, so I have read through this thread and here are my .02 worth.

First, I would like to say I think it in bad taste to make money on someone elses death, unless of course my wife can make a few million on mine, then it's ok by me, and undoubtedly by her :>)

If you don't like it, boycott it. I like the idea of selling them for .01 to drive back the prices. Better still, don't buy at all.

I will say this though, all of us at some point saw an opportunity to make a buck and took it or are in the process of doing so. There isn't one person on this site or in this hobby who doesn't brag about the "steal" they got on a card or sold one over market prices.
If the love of money leads to all sorts of evil, aren't we all on the highway to hell?

    well put.

Is it ok to sell stamps that have Hitler`s image on them? Or Marilyn Monroe? Or JFK coins? In death brings wealth to some people. This is ridiculous to even start a topic on. This sort of thing has been going on for centuries now, and not just in this country. People ALWAYS hold onto certain things in life in the hopes that one day they will be worth something and they can profit on it. Lidle was a pitcher in the Major Leagues. He was a higher profiled person than the average Joe. He made millions of dollars by playing and signing contracts with trading card companies. He owned his own airplane. His cards are up in value now. It`s not such a bad thing. Same thing happened with Pat Tillman. Just because they were active players and not retired doesn`t make a difference. I`m sure when Walter Payton passed on, people sold his auto`s/items after holding onto them in the hopes of them becoming more valuable. It`s called collecting memorabilia. Sometimes you have to wait for death in order for these things to be worth something. Morbid? Yes, 100%, but thats just the way it is.

This sort of thing happens to everyone eventually. When your parents pass away(or if they already have), what did you do with their stuff? If it didn`t have any sentimental value to you, you either sold it or you chucked in the trash. Now what would your parents/grandparents think about that if you trashed their belongings after they died? They`d be pretty pissed imo. Get what you can when you can.

Get over this subject already. If something like this truly bothers you so much(people selling items because someone has passed on), then get out of the hobby because you really shouldn`t be selling or buying any cards of someone who has passed on(ie: Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Walter Payton, Thurman Munson, Pat Tillman, etc...). Even the card companies themselves practice this. They`ll buy cancelled checks or signatures from dead players estates just so they can make millions from us idiots who buy their products. :icon_roll

Just get over it and move on.
