Hello from Utah

Hello, new to the site. My son and I have taken on baseball cards as a hobby. Mostly my son, but I'm investing myself as its proving to be a great bonding experience. We spent an hour this past weekend at the local card shop digging through their 10 cents per card box, and it was great to see the joy on his face.

Its been interesting learning the modern lingo: base set, parallels, foil, relics, the various card holding methods, etc. Sports cards sure have changed since I was kid.

Ever since Charlie Blackmon signed a card at a Rockies game, my son's goal is to get cards autographed. He doesn't really care if the player is good/great/mediocre, in the MLB or Triple A. If he has multiple cards of a player, he wants to mail one out.

This is where I come in as a helper. Trying to find addresses led me to this site. Great database. We've had some luck with TTM (one old school player, one currently in Triple A). We have a Triple A team here, so we've been to a couple of games and gotten a few autographs that way.

Our struggle is deciding what to focus on with the collecting, and what to do with cards we don't want.
