My introduction
First off, Hello!
I started collecting in 1989 with a Topps football complete set my dad bought me. At the time we knew Topps was an established company and them Score cards where just ugly and the face shots that looked like they where taken in the locker room with baseball hats on of the rookie cards we just couldn’t stand. We where action shot guys! Later when the 1989 Score Troy Aikman and Barry Sanders cards where selling for a couple hundred bucks each we where left scratching our heads.
With the exception of trying to piece one single set together each year I soon switched my collecting to a single player. In the early 90’s my goal was to own every card ever made of that player. A reasonable goal back then. He retired not long after and in the mid to late 90’s there was only a dozen or so card companies. Little did I know what the future held and the year he entered the Hall of Fame a few more cards got released and then a million card companies surfaced and every one started cranking out one or two cards then 10 or 20 and suddenly fast forward to today and there are almost 2,000 cards of a guy who retired almost 30 years ago with almost 200 being released this year. I currently own over 730 different cards of the same player.
I was able to collect most of his cards up until 2004 and a little in 2005 and for some reason I just stopped. This past fall I rediscovered eBay and started buying his cards again and am up to my ears in cards again and driving my wife nutts with the daily deliveries from the mail man with one to 10 new cards arriving almost every day. I have about 15 years of catch up. The cards from 2019 are nearly completed with the exception of a few 1/1’s that either haven’t surfaced yet or I missed and a couple others I just haven’t been able to get for a good price.
thanks for allowing me to join the forum and I look forward to reading others stories and maybe picking up a card hear and there that I need. Maybe one day join the Super Collectors Club!Last edited by FireRob; 02-02-2020 at 03:10 PM.

Glad to have you on SCF. Who do you collect as I did not see or perhaps I read it too fast? Sounds like your getting back into the hobby full throttle if your accumulated all the stuff for 2019 minus the 1 of 1's Congrats and look forward to seeing some of your collection.

Don, I didn’t say, it’s Mike Singletary. I was trying to avoid sparking an interest in him. Competition for cards can get steep sometimes as everyone knows.
