This great site where you can move nothings for something - no apprecation

    A short rant.

Why are you here if you treat your trade binder like the treasure of a Dragon?

90% of these traders of ours are dust collectors, appreciated by none.

You can do so much with so little if you CHOOSE too.

I'm happy to have made 85 trades in 8 months with many great members here, partially because myself and SOME others are not clinging to an 09 FWA like its touched by Christ.

oh and btw if the card says ROOKIE RENDITIONS it's a rookie. sorry. imaginary rules.

Cards that say "Rookie" (in one form or another) that virtually nobody considers to be a "Rookie Card" have been around for 30 years.

I'll always stick to the idea that people should collect what they like, and the importance of a card being a "rookie card" is a little over blown, but if you think a "Rookie Review" card is an actual rookie card.... I'm sorry, but you're playing with your own imaginary rules.

As for the more genral comment about traders: Yeah, I mean some people treat their stuff like gold, others don't. That's been the case as long as cards have been traded. Someone hard to deal with? Walk away... move onto the next deal

    if its says ROOKIE

if it's got no stats on the back

    if it's got a # RR

I'm listing it as a Rookie.

For me, I'm a little bit of a purist. I consider the first card released to be the true rookie card and the rest rookie year. That said, if its a PC Card, I want regardless.

I also agree that some people treat their cards like gold, refusing to accept the fact that not everyone will agree with their assessment. For me, it's quite simple. If I don't want to accept what you offer I won't. No hurt feelings, my cards are my cards, your cards belong to you. It's that easy!

and that's fine you do you!

I was mostly upset by having someone treat me like a scammer because I offered them something outside their definition of a Rookie.

You can say that I'm following some sort of imaginary rules... you can call your card a rookie until you're blue in the face, but fact is that 99.9999999999% of people consider ot an insert, not a rookie card, but I'm guessing you already know that.

It doesn't make your card bad, it doesn't mean that nobody would want it.... but if someone is looking for a rookie card of the player, that's simply not what they want.

So long as you told the other guy what you card is... there's no reason to treat you poorly though. A simple "no thanks" and move on is all that's needed.

i recently did a trade with Scott "TheSoup"
great trader, easy to work with.
but i am familiar with what he is saying.
sometimes frustrations set in trying to make a trade.
some members its all about the wizard - Becketts. others it the Bible - Feebay Sales.
people seem to be trying to squeeze every penny out of you. others make it so easy it reminds me thats it fun!
deep breath, dont take it personal, forget about those few traders that cause headaches. enjoy the great ones.

    A short rant.

1 - Why are you here if you treat your trade binder like the treasure of a Dragon?

2 - 90% of these traders of ours are dust collectors, appreciated by none.

3 - You can do so much with so little if you CHOOSE too.

4 - I'm happy to have made 85 trades in 8 months with many great members here, partially because myself and SOME others are not clinging to an 09 FWA like its touched by Christ.

5 - oh and btw if the card says ROOKIE RENDITIONS it's a rookie. sorry. imaginary rules.

1 - I treat my "trade binder" like stocks or money. Everything has a value, and deserves proper value back ( this includes card type - set / player caliber / overall desirability of a card )

2 - 90% of my traders are sitting on ebay. I am a patient person, I do not need to sell or trade anything if I feel the offer or quality coming back my way is too low. I also dont trade for the sake of trading. If its something for PC, sure we can work something out quite easily. On the other hand, if you have nothing for me then I expect more value to get you the card you need.

3 - You can, but in many cases why would you? Breaking is expensive. As many people have said, trading is more so a chore with most members. Shipping prices keep on increasing. People today expect to get Pristine or Gem Mint+ cards in a deal, and are concerned if the edges of their mint card might come back a 9.0 instead of the 9.5+ they were expecting. The hobby has become more expensive, something has to take a hit and for me its careless trading or trading for the sake of trading.

4 - Its their card. They can ask whatever they want. If you are unable to make a deal for a Future Watch from 10 years ago, im sure there are many avenues to get that same card. If you dont agree on a value its fine, but dont expect the owner of the card to come down, or trade for something they dont want / deem is less valuable in their eyes simply because you think so.

5 - No. You are wrong. Its not an imaginary rule. Type into your search engine "Upper Deck definition of rookie card"

    Here is the link:
    http://www.upperdeck.com/Collectors-...explained.aspx

Rookie Card – A card from a player’s first year in the league, or the non-parallel version of a base card from a product released player’s first year.

Base Card – A common card that is part of the product’s main set. These cards are usually numbered 1-XXX in accordance with the number of subjects in a set.

Because your Rookie Renditions is not a from the products main set and not a base card numbered in accordance with the number of subjects in a set ..... it is NOT a true rookie card.

If this is what the majority of the Hockey collectors follow .... and what Upper Deck, the only licensed distributors and creators of Hockey Cards, says on their site ... then to me you are the one making up "imaginary rules"

Your A) The Cup Rookie Renditions or B) Trilogy Rookie Renditions (not sure what INSERT set youre talking about) would fall under this category:

Insert – These are usually cards that come at a higher odds ratio. Instead of being a part of the normal base set, however, they are part of a “subset”, or set within the set. They look different then the common cards, and usually have different names.

Both Rookie Renditions sets I listed above are not part of the normal base set, and are indeed part of a "subset". If a card is not part of the main base set, then no, the card cannot be considered a true rookie. The definition also states they usually have different names. If youre talking about a "Rookie", it will be called simply a "Rookie" .... if its called "Rookie Renditions" or "Rookie Breakouts" or "Rookie Retro" .... it is not a true rookie.
