Question about Igor shesterkin, why prices so hi for this guy, NY Rangers Goalie.
so I was looking at some of the 19-20 ud series 1 and 2 ygs and yg canvas and would like to know why C214-Igor Shesterkin is bv50-125
This guy is the 3rd string goalie of the NY rangers and was drafted in 2014, #118 overall
so what is going on that his value went from 6-15 up to 50-125, thats crazy in my eyes
Lmk what you think and can explain why, thanks

Agreed but that bv is just crazy. Beckett has done this a couple of times this year where they post a ridiculous bv, only to be called out by the hobby. Only then do they correct it. Who at Beckett even watches hockey anymore? Do they even have employees that follow sports?

The BV is actually pretty reasonable given recent Ebay sales... I have seen much worse from Beckett on other cards.

Hi
He doesn’t seem to have a lot of rookie cards. That may have something to do with prices so high. I could be wrong.
Cheers Mike

I believe it was Buttons the Clown on the Toronto Sports Network (TSN) that called him a generational goaltender.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

His numbers are pretty good. Hes the hot new thing.
Combine that with a lack of rookie stuff for him on the market right now ( especially the lack of a YG ) ..... the BV is actually right in line with cash values. Most people would agree BVs are roughly double the cash value of the card. He is currently in the $60-$70ish USD range.
I am on the side of, UD did something right with a hot card for once.
The times of only looking at BVs to determine a cards value has long past, this is an example of thatLast edited by canucksfan007; 03-15-2020 at 02:47 PM.

Lack of Rookie cards is a good point. Consider that the hobby is watered down largely by focusing on rookie cards.
Consider the point that a parallel /100 of let's say... Nicklas Lidstrom from 10-15 years ago can be worth $20-$40 but now a Nicklas Lidstrom /10 would be worth $20-$40. That is because the overall amount of Nicklas Lidstrom parallels now is much higher than it was 10-15 years ago. If someone wanted a Nicklas Lidstrom /10 Parallel they could get it from almost any set. 10 Years ago a /100 Parallel would be found in a handful of sets.
If someone wants a rookie of Shesterkin there are only so many true rookies available on the market. Rookie's are/can be an investment. People want to jump on it now.
