Let’s look at the VERY random names on this autographed Penguins jersey I own

While the 2019-20 NHL season remains on hold am going to spend my Tuesday’s sharing random stories or pieces of hockey memorabilia that I own. This is story time with Gretz.

Was never much of an autograph collector growing up because I was never really in a position to actually collect autographs. Despite that, there is still one piece of hockey merchandise from my teenage years that is hanging in my basement bar that has several of autographs on it.

    Random autographs.

    Very random autographs.

From nearly an entire Pittsburgh Penguins roster. It just so happens to be one of the worst rosters in the history of the franchise — the 2001-02 Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 01-02 Pens weren't that bad!

Kovalev scored at a higher than a PPG clip, and they had 24 magnificent games that year too! (I'm guessing this wasn't signed by Lemieux ??)

Toby Peterson was on that team too. I remember when MacTavish loved that guy for some unknown reason in Edmonton..... turns out he had a hattrick for the 01-02 Pens!

Back in the day Kovalev definitely got some hobby love by the Pittsburgh fan base. He was easy to move back in the day.

IMO, he's one of the more underrated players of the last 25 years. Part of that was he was known to take nights off (could be lazy) but when he had the puck.... man, there were very few players - EVER - to have hands like that. His ability to puck handle, and keep the puck away from whomever was trying to take it from him - it was incredible.
