    Past year(s) Hobby Boxes?

What do you guys think about buying Hobby Boxes from past years. For instance I've noticed that there are some Hobby Boxes from past years that prices have dropped on. I've noticed a few 2004 boxes for pretty reasonable prices. And to me that was a good draft class, Tatum Bell, DJ Williams, Eli, Big Ben, Stephen Jackson ... etc etc.

What do you guys think, if you buy a box of 2004 is it possible that your getting the bottom of the barrell stuff or is there a possibility there will be some good pulls!

Hey, I too like getting boxes from past years cause they are a little cheaper. In fact I just broke 4 boxes of 2004 Leaf Certified Materials yesterday. The odds on pulling one of the big rookies are pretty low (example: my big rookie auto pull was Jarrett Payton!!), but I still got some pretty good stuff. If you're looking to turn around and sell your hits you won't do as well as breaking from a 2006 box, but you can still do ok. Just my 2 cents.

Depends on from which company. Id stay away from Fleer stuff unless you dont care if you get unredeemable redemptions. But yes, otherwise its worth a shot.

There always good pulls from stuff not pulled, so ya never know.

I think it's a great idea, particularly for those addicts that just need a pack-ripping fix. And there's bound to be some decent pulls still sitting in old boxes that haven't been opened. I opened a box of '04 Fleer Platinum this past weekend. Granted, I got GU of Culpepper and McNair....neither of which play for the team the jerseys came from.

sivjosh you hit it right on the head ... I feel like ripping some packs, but I'm tired of retail boxes where the hits are far and few in between.

I'm considering a few different brands right now, but one that catches my eye is 2004 Playoff Hogg Heaven .... they look pretty good and that draft class was one of the better in the past few years.

    Thanks!

UPDATE: I just purchased a 2004 Playoff Hogg Heaven Hobby Box ... 12 packs, 5 cards per pack ... 2 GU/Auto's per box plus at least 5 Inserts per box. $77 shipped.

Not bad in my opinion and I like the draft class of 2004. Not as good as this years, but not as bad as last year

Thanks ... I think I will do a live break on here when I get them in.

The cards do look very nice and the hits seem pretty good as well. What caught my eye is the Insert cards are printed on leather ????? did I read that right? That should be pretty cool!
