A Box of 1999-00 Pacific Dynagon Ice Hockey Cards

Today I opened up a box of Pacific product that I have done a few times in the past with mixed results. Featuring a nice design, with good player selection, with low prices on the full boxes, as well as the potential to pull somewhat sought after parallels in the ice blues and premiere dates, including the hyper-rare Holo-Purple 1/1 mask parallels, I felt like taking the low-risk gamble today.

It was a fun break, though definitely didn't come close to being one of my best. Recap of the notable hits, including a jersey numbered premiere date card, are at the 15:00 mark and like usual, the pictures of the hits can be found on my Instagram at BRCGoalieMuseum. Enjoy!

Funny thing is people absolutely hated Pacific for all the color parallels and all the numbered ™™™™. Panini does it and people are absolutely eating it up. Wonder if it the same base of collectors or the customers are that different per sport.

    Keep sharing the older products!

Thank you, it's fun to break boxes this way since it doesn't feel so solitary an activity anymore!

I had this conversation a few days ago with a shop owner, and I told him that in my opinion it comes down to hockey collectors being a lot more traditionalist (really the only rookies of retained value are Young Guns, SPA, and The Cup), whereas collectors with other sports seem more open to colors, pre-rookie parallels, and endless parallels as added value. Of course it is a generalization and there are many personalities in the various hobbies and everyone has their own way to collect.

Bruce, you def taught me something new. I wasn't aware of this mask series by Pacific! The Beezer mask looks overly simplified. But, I'm always intrigued by unfamiliar goalie inserts. The BTP Mask and Masked Men subsets remain two of my favourite series in the entire hobby.
