USPS Shipping Problems
After losing my third package this week since the start of COVID-19, I am no longer confident sending First Class International.
Are you guys having problems sending stuff and having it go missing, or this week I was shown a picture of my mailer ripped open in a Canada Post "I'm sorry, you're scrwed" bag requesting a full refund. There is no insurance, just a shot at getting my postage back.
I know the egg is on my face for sending without insurance, but it irks me that nothing can stop a buyer from saying that it was delivered empty or can put it in an "I'm sorry" bag like I just defined.
Please tell me what precautions you guys take these days with international mail. I'm out about $120 which isn't the end of the world but I'm obviously not too happy right now...(actually writing makes me feel a lil better)

I lose about 1/50 of my packages... and the ones I send get there 99/100 times.
It is frustrating

Out of curiosity, are you handwritting or printing the addresses on the packages you send?

I usually hand write the labels that I send out. They get there 99/100 times, 100/100 times to Canada mind you. I don't even really send to Europe anymore. Someone at the Russian Post Office (like there is only one) has a great card collection

I am printing my labels and writing the address inside in case it gets somehow opened/separated.

Im a mail carrier just outside PITTSBURGH. Just yesterday I delivered a yellow bubble package with 3 small bottles of shoe shine. When I loaded my truck in the morning the package was intact. When I got to that house later in the day the top was ripped completely open. Maybe it was hanging by a thread in the morning idk. But yeah the number of packages/boxes we get at our office ripped open or damaged is high. On a overall percentage scale its low if that makes sense.

^ With that username, I'd be worried if you worked at UPS
.
The packages I have sent out of country I have always printed the address on paper twice. One on the package and one inside. I then cover the address with packing tape to deter any damage from water or other hazards ( like laminating). I mailed a small box to Finland last month with a hockey jersey. The USPS has an option I hadn't seen before where you do the customs form online ( bit of a learning curve though). It looks clean and is easy to read. I also wrap the box in nylon tape on every end and around all sides so there is no mistaking intentional opening. Wish I would have taken a picture for illustration but that thing is in its own sarcophagus. Package took 2 weeks with no issues. Customs declaration is a different matterLast edited by ac4760; 10-15-2020 at 10:52 PM.
