what im wondering is if in the long run I would have more luck on the bay after paying the rent cost.

You can try it but remember that everybody wants something for nothing. If you do it, keep a inventory of every card and make sure you present them well. Have your prices clearly visible and be willing to bend a little on your prices. It can't hurt to try and with Christmas coming up it is the best time to do it.

ps..
Don't do the cheap cards on the bay, it won't be worth it. Most people don't buy single base unless they are finishing a set.
