Only 3 games with the Jackets, 3 goals...and benched for the second half of the game!
I guess Torts is going to try and win yet another ego battle with a star player. lol

Either way the Jackets fleeced the Jets...... And Torts coaching method drives me crazy - and you're right it is an "ego battle"....
Just let Laine play his game, he's obviously producing, the kid can score goals -- this is no time for an "ego tug-of-war".... SMH

Torts has always struck me as a "break them down to build them back up" type of guy, which I'm not a fan of either. With that said, guys like Seth Jones, seem to genuinely like, or at least don't outwardly hate, playing for the guy so who knows what exactly went/goes on. With Torts/Laine's track records I wouldn't doubt there was an effort "issue" but who knows, it's Torts.

Did any of you watch the game in question. Laine was being an absolute lazy plug on the backcheck. Why should anyone who is paid that kind of money get to take a shift off.

I didn't but I figured as much. Because I didn't, I didn't want to just assume that was the case. Apparently an article for The Athletic came out today saying he said something to a coach too. So yeah, the consequence was deserved.Last edited by CJ1510; 02-10-2021 at 09:08 PM.

In 2018 , Laine scored 30 goals yet his +- was a non-impressive (-24) . You would think that Jarmo Kekalainen and Torts knew what they were getting. Lotsa luck getting the floater mentality to disappear in the big Finn. His skates seem to only point in the one direction !!! Roslovic might just be the "Golden Nugget" in that recent trade .......

The benching was over an argument with a coach, not on ice play.
