Oh I have been watching, but this is just a complete cash grab. I could see inflation on the Sakic head to $350.... $400.... maybe $500... but this is just stupid. I have to say that I am not surprised that PWCC is up to sketchy ™™™™ like this. At least we know the Sakic isn't trimmed or cleaned

They are a consignor. The owner of the card asked them to list it for that price

500ish would get you the OPC, I think (maube not anymore, lol).
Topps was shorter printed that year, and more condition sensitive. The population on PSA 10s is 17. That's not many, and people are whacky prices for it.
Even if I had 10s of thousands of dollars to burn on hockey cards, this wouldn't be what I'd be chasing.... but clearly there are people that will pay crazy prices, for the best Joe Sakic RC.

Yea, that is pretty indefensible or should I say offensive, lol.. In defense of the card given my experience with both Topps & OPC Sakic rookies it is pretty difficult to pull a PSA 10 with only 17/ 1117 making the cut - but not 30k difficult.
I get the reasoning behind overpricing a card but that's just ridiculous. PSA puts a $700 price on the card, and maybe some collector would pay $700 for a PSA 10 but even at 700 that card will sit until the right buyer comes around.. I mean I could see a 10 going for maybe $400-500, but not $700 and absolutely nothing in the 5 figures and certainly not the 6..
If it matters, it's always the centering with this card..

I agree and I was going to post what I wrote below until I looked up "1990-91 Pro Set Hockey Case" on eBay and found this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-91-Pro...wAAOSwliVf4jmK
$860 shipped?? $43 bucks a box?
What the hell is going on??? these things used to sell for $3-5 a box... The Jagr RC was - and still is - a dollar card or a card you could find in the pocket change bin at a LCS or card show..
That's bonkers, I have a fat team set bag breaking at the seems full of them and easily a dozen more in binders. I've never even thought to list them because they're not very valuable... Whomever paid that much for 34 is nuts and without question this is an anomaly - it has to be - that or someone is trying to jack the cards value up..
Dude, you could get a case of Pro Set S2 for waaay less than $387 shipped and a case probably has at least 50 Jagr rookies in it if you factor most boxes have 2 and a handful have 3..

Except you can't buy them for those prices anymore. You're right... seeing a box of Pro Set for $5 was pretty common for a long time (decades). Not sure where you're going to find those now.
The Jagr isn't a $1 card anymore either.... more like $5 (though with patience, you should be able to pick one up for $3).
It's the grading. People are paying big bucks for high grade singles, of key players. When an OPC Premier Jagr PSA stars selling for $800, then his UD Rookie starts selling for $250, and all the others are suddenly with $100+
People buy them in bricks, looks for the GEM Mint copies, slab them, and reap the rewards.
If you're sitting on a stack of 34 Jagr Pro Set RCs: Do the same thing. Put 'em in a lot, and flip them on eBay. You'll get (give or take) the same amount.

Digging around a bit, I found this (old) article:
https://www.postwarcards.com/6-price...-hockey-cards/
Mentions a PSA 10 Sakic selling for $910 back in June of 2019.
This one sold back in October. Broke the $2500 mark:
https://www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/2456223
I recall reading about one that sold more recently than that (maybe December?) that did break the $10k mark, but I don't remember where (and can't find it).
Yes, I think $30k is unrealistic... but so is $700. The market has shifted BIG TIME in the last year.
