Interesting Trilogy swatches
Recently, I was looking at Kaapo Kakko cards on ebay and ran across this one..Kakko trilogy.jpg
The middle swatch was really confusing as it doesn't seem to be from a Rangers jersey. After looking at other cards from the series, I deduced that some were from jerseys, some from sticks and some from...I have no idea.
Here's one that I found amusing..Kakko trilogy 3.jpg The top one that says..." affix to sales receipt".
Some really odd things they put on there. The definition of swatch is about as generic as can be. I usually look on the back to see if it says game worn, event worn or something else. Nowadays, most UD cards I see say only "worn by the featured player" but doesn't say where ( as in jersey, pants, etc). ITG usually had game or event worn on them.
Maybe the middle Kakko swatch could be a Team Finland jersey or possibly some really cool socks he was wearing that day. Anyway, I found it amusing. If anyone has a better guess, I'd love to hear it.
After a bit of searching, I found these cards which explains another option.... A tie. Interesting choice.

If you can find screenshots of the back of the card I bet it would give some detail of where they pieces come from. As you said a stick piece looks totally right.

You would hope, but the back is just a generic ,contains memorabilia worn by the featured player. SO it could really be anything. Here is a scan of the back.

Most newer UD cards I have seen have the same wording. This way, a tie or anything else is the equivalent of a GU jersey or stick. I wish they would at least say game or event worn. The draft swag card shows on the front what the items are. Having played no NHL games they couldn't be much else. Also, how many shirts, caps etc. did they have the player wear that day just to be able to say, " worn by the featured player".Last edited by ac4760; 03-11-2021 at 03:53 PM.

You can bet most of this stuff is event worn (hardly any game used) lol.
Thanks for shooting the back of the card.

The "Affix to Sales Receipt" piece is the warranty from a composite stick. When composite sticks first came out, they used to have a pair of matching codes - one that was stuck firmly on the stick and a matching code label that was peeled off the stick and affixed to the sales receipt. If you broke the stick before 30 days, you brought the broken stick and your receipt back to the store for an exchange.
I don't know if they still do that though. Maybe on high-end sticks but not on any sticks that I buy!
