Jere Karalahti Rookie card question
can anyone tell me if this is a sports card forum error or if this is for real but how can Jere Karalahti have a rookie card in 1994 and then another in 1999?
1994-95 Finest #126 Jere Karalahti
1999-00 MVP SC Edition #88 Jere Karalahti

The 90's were a weird time. It looks like the 1994-95 card should be categorized as a PRC or XRC. He was drafted in 1993 but didn't make his NHL debut until the 1999-2000 season. His MVP RC would (in today's rules) be considered the RC since he had actually played in a NHL game, etc. The early 90's were a wild race of each company tripping over themselves to get cards out ASAP regardless of the player's status with the NHLPA.
Turn this one over to @Iheartjacquie as he may have greater clarification.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

His Finest would still be his rookie card.
Regular release.

just heading out the door and got the tag, first glance I would have to agree the 94-95 should be his rookie, I will look into this more/ fix it tomorrow. Either way you are correct that one or the other is his rookie....not both. @Petrafire

The mistake on the MVP card.
1994-95 Topps Finest is a fully licensed NHL set, that includes players from the World Junior Championships. Those are the first cards of those players (at least most of them) and are their rookie cards. Jussi Markanen, Mikka Kipprusoff, Ryan Smyth, etc.
