    I think I’m done with eBay once I sell off my current stock.
    With all the glitches happening lately, the removal of certain categories in sports cards and the managed payments I’ve had enough. Been selling on there for 20 years, nearly 16,000 feedback and a monthly eBay bill of around a grand. They won’t miss my thousand bucks but if enough people leave they will notice for sure.
    Also eBay is all about the buyer but the sellers are the ones paying the fees. Sellers get screwed all the time. And now with all the postal delays due to Covid and whatever else the amount of claims coming in are insane.
    Was fun while it lasted.

    I was forced to make the switch back January or February. I have not had any problems with it yet, but the fees are creeping up and up - and I do dislike the principle of it.

    I'm finding that when I get paid from a buyer, the money is in my account within 48 hours. The turnaround time is fine by me, and not a big deal.

    I don't like that I've been forced to give up my layer of insulation (Paypal) as I assume when someone files a chargeback, eBay is just going to take the money out of our account, and sort it out later. It's never happened to me, but I wouldn't have cared about my Paypal going negative, while sorting something out. I won't be happy if eBay ever hits my bank account "automatically" instead of telling me about the problem first.

    I recently got tax invoices from eBay too. Seems like us Canadians now have to pay 13% HST (or whatever your provincial rate is) on Final Value, Insertion, and International Fees (not sure what International Fees are?). I'm guessing it won't be long before the government wants their cut of any eBay sales too, which is when I'll be done selling there.

    Are we sure the HST (or whatever any particular province has) is new? Under MP there is definitely more detail and statements, but is it really new? I'll have to go look at my old fee statements.

    I've bought from you a couple of times, and others here as well. It would be a real shame if you all left.

    Sorry, wasn’t sure where to put it...

    That's what he said! LOL

    ----

    Interesting discussion thread - my overall eBay buying activity has been up lately, though I haven't been taking much initiative to sell anything on the platform. Hopefully these new changes won't impact too many of the bigger sellers to the extent they withdraw from eBay, because it will have a major negative impact on the hobby generally and my PC additions personally.

    I'm not sure, no..... I'd have to break down some past sales.

    I do know this, looking at the invoices: I'm paying 12.35% in Final Values Fees, and then I'm paying 13% on the 12.35%.

    So before all the changes, I paid a final value fee that was much lower, but then paypal charged a few more percent. I never paid too close attention, but I'm guessing the total was around the same (if I'd also cashed out my paypal balance).

    Ebay has been charging HST on final value fees for over a year now. I forget exactly when it started though. It equates to an extra 1.3% fee. Final value fee on an auction is 10% and HST is 13% of that 10%

    Okay, fair enough.

    But March & April were the first two months I ever got a "tax bill" from them (it indicates the taxes were already paid). They were also the first two FULL months I was on the new managed payment system (I think no coincidence).

    @Canuckfan007

    Were you able to sign up a USD bank account (from Canada) with eBay?

    @2broscollections

    Yes I contacted ebay and they would let me attach my US bank account to them. Its just an RBC bank account not a US based bank.

    Because of this, my ins and outs will still be easily tracked weather I convert the funds and transfer to my Canadian funds account or spend right back on ebay.

    When all is said and done, in about 10 - 11 months im going to see a lot more taxes owed if I continue to sell on ebay.

    As mentioned before, I was not a big time ebay seller quantity wise. They wont miss my contributions, and I am forced to still buy on ebay. I will set up selling threads here, BO and HI. I plan to sell in Facebook group where admins already know who I am and can vouch for me, as well as on Instagram where I have a decent following. Throw in shows that should be going come the beginning of next hockey season and ill be fine moving forward without ebay
