Goldin Auctions, in their most recent Spring Goldin Elite Auction, set a new sports collectible auction benchmark of $50 Million dollars! This amazing accomplishment surpasses their January Goldin Elite where they hit twenty-five million.
In their Spring Elite Auction, there were quite a few items that now hold new sales records. To list a few, a Kobe Bryant game-worn signed jersey, an Upper Deck Michael Jordan Game-Used Jersey patch Autograph PSA 8 Auto 9, and the famed T206 Honus Wagner – which went for $3.75 Million!
T206 Honus Wagner PSA 2

Final Price: $3,751, 500
This is a record for the famed T206 Honus Wagner card in any condition. The last transaction of the card was a private-deal that paid $3.25 million for a PSA 3 in October of 2020.
Sales of this card have continued to surpass the last and Ken Goldin stated, “To own one is to own one of the rarest and most significant pieces of sports memorabilia in history.”
If you aren’t sure who Honus Wagner is and why his card in a PSA 2 just sold for higher than a PSA 3 last October, here is a brief background.
Honus Wagner was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of fame in 1936 after playing the shortstop position, mostly for the Pittsburg Pirates, for twenty-one seasons. Although he was positioned in the shortstop role, he could adjust to any position, and he still is considered one of the best hitters in the game 100 years later. In terms of his trading card, there are fewer than 200 that were printed and less than 50 graded to this day. There weren’t many cards made of Wagner, mostly due to the speculation that Wagner didn’t want his image to be used for tobacco marketing back then. Leaving the T206 Honus Wagner as the “Holy Grail” for any sports memorabilia collector.

1997 Upper Deck Game Jersey Autographed Michael Jordan 21/23 PSA 8 Auto 9

Final Price: $2,103,300
This Michael Jordan card now holds the all-time record for not only any Jordan card…but any Jordan item of any kind!
Hand-numbered and considered one of the first basketball relic cards to be produced, this piece of Jordan memorabilia surpassed the sale handled by Heritage of the same card in a PSA 7/8 by over $650k. This auction is just another example of Michael Jordan’s dominance!

Game-Worn, Signed Kobe Bryant Rookie Jersey

Final Price: $3,690,000
The most ever spent on a basketball jersey in sports collector history. The record is now held by none other than the Black Mamba.
The bidding on this jersey was quite the race with 50 bids and the final sale not taking place until 5AM ET May 23rd.
Not only is this rookie season Kobe jersey the highest to sell out of all basketball jerseys; it is also the most ever spent on a Kobe Bryant piece of memorabilia. A truly historic jersey.
Michael Jordan, whose jersey held the previous auction record of close to $1.4 million gave an emotional tribute to Kobe at his recent Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
