Seems so far like teams would much rather deal with each other to save themselves than deal with Seattle.... this makes me think they're a little gun-shy, but also that Ron Francis is trying to fleece them and they don't really appreciate it.

This certainly does seem to have watered down the exposed player list that Francis will get to choose from. I wonder if we will hear about the trades he did make prior to the actual draft or not.

I think the Francis has a tough decision to make on Tarasenko as well. Very tempting, but could be a huge downside if he does not return to old form. My guess is that other teams wanted the Blues to retain too much salary and thus no deals were done. My hope is that they take Sanford, but that is highly unlikely.

There were some in Ottawa that were surprised that Dadynov wasn't protected and that Logan Brown was.

Now it is all starting to make sense. Montreal had no choice but to protect Allen as he is probably going to be their starting goaltender heading into next season.

The mock draft on the NHL site had Seattle selecting Kulak from Montreal.

Minnesota protecting Talbot over Kahkonen is one of the bigger surprises for me.

I don't understand why the Oilers protected Kassian, his contract makes him unlikely to have been picked. The mock draft on NHL.com shows the Oilers losing Devin Shore. If that's the case, then they lose nothing of consequence. Tyler Benson is the one that everyone seems afraid they'll lose: While I would have protected him over Kassian, I'm not sure you'll ever see the guy turn into a top 6 forward, so I don't think losing him will be that big of a deal.

@RGM81 "celebrity status" . Looking pretty dispirited during this morning sports report news segment. Keep the faith , I too am an avid Carey Price supporter. But it would be very interesting to see him protect the cage for the "Kraken" during their inaugural season. It'll be sad to see such a positive role model and leader leave the Habs fold after so many seasons, but I'll continue to be a fan , regardless of where he plays out the remainder of his career.
