Thinking about getting back into the hobby

Hello everyone. I was an avid collector of football cards for years. I went on vacation one year and let a homeless friend of mine stay there because it was winter. When I returned home I came home to find my whole card collection was gone. I should have known better and he has since asked for forgiveness and I absolutely have forgiven him. I am a Chicago Bears fan and collected pretty much any and all autos and jersey/patch cards. I suppose what I'm going to ask is there someone that would be kind enough to maybe ship me something to just kind of get a feel of the hobby again? I mean I would also gladly pay, so don't think I'm looking fora handout..I guess I'm just hesitant considering how much I put into it and am worried something like that may happen again abd I guess I'd love to get a boost and if someone has like an auto/jersey/patch lot of some sorts they could put together and how much they would want that would be so awesome...It really can be any players..I am a huge NFL fan and know of players, even 2nd and 3rd stringers, so I'd be grateful getting the feel for that again...I appreciate it in advance everyone..I look forward to being a part of this website and hopefully I can figure it all out financially again and all that because man do I ever miss it!

Hi @Unfaded50, I'm a Bears fan too! I've had a lot of success writing to retired Bears players requesting autographs. For very little money you can buy some base cards from folks here or off of Sportlots.com, then for the cost of a couple stamps, envelopes, and a hand written or printed request letter, send requests out.
