    hobby vs. retail and HTA?

    i know that hobby is better but i have talked to many people that say they have pulled great cards out of retail packs is this posible? do they just load them up with crap? and what is a hta box and is that crap or what?

    first of all, it is possible to get nice cards in retail boxes but the odds are MUCH MUCH better in hobby boxes...gotta be VERY lucky to get a big hit in a retail box

    second, HTA stands for Home Team Advantage (i believe)...im pretty sure this is exclusive to topps products....as far as i know, they just have better odds on the inserts.

    Another thing, if you buy retail, chance are you will not pull a jersey or autographed card. Where I live anyways, pack searchers sit at Target and Wal-Mart waiting for them to put the new boxes of cards out, and pick the jerseys and autographs out before anyone else has a chance.

    For retail, your best bet is blaster boxes. They run from $9.99 to $19.99. I recommend Topps Chrome at $19.99, there are lots of nice rookies, refractors, and around 1 in 3 boxes have an auto in it.
