    Question For Yankees Fans

So doing some Winter organizing of the PC and came across these two. But who gets remembered more fondly for their time in Pinstripes
Legendary Bat Speed Clint Frazier or The Sweetest Swing Greg Bird?

    Bird

Though I think both could have been decent players for the Yankees if the origination wasn't so screwed up now. I don't really see why they kill all value with Frazier. Even if they didn't like the guy they mishandled him as they could have gotten rid of him when he had good trade value. And Bird was destroyed by injuries which have been a huge problem for the Yankees for the past couple of seasons. Who are the trainers and conditioning coaches with the team because they absolutely suck at their jobs.

Yeah Bird was misdiagnosed several times by team doctors that kept him off the field more than he should have been. but you're right for the money invested into developing the players and their salaries the Yankees don't really seem to have the elite medical care that they should invest into. The new guy that kept Judge and Stanton on the field this year though deserves some credit. But yeah we could've gotten Cole in 2018 for Frazier, Miggy, and I believe Chance Adams. Worst non-trade ever in hindsight.

The Yankees have been clearly not the best in keeping their players healthy. We made some bad trades and continue to overpay players to come to the Bronx Zoo. Have been a Yankees fan since 1959 and haven't really liked watching them play since Jeter retired. I am worried we will not pick up a quality shortstop and we need pitching. Cole is not the only pitching answer. I think we need a quality closer and not all the set-up people. I think it is time for Gardner to go and decide on who will play first. Sanchez is a joke but they keep giving him a chance to improve. I hate seeing people bat under 200 and strikeout 200 times. Still got a full outfield and someone has to DH so some can play.

Well enough of my ranting and raving. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all. Maybe I will be surprised by the 2022 New York Yankees.

Yeah Yankees have a lot of work to do this offseason but meanwhile Cashman is sleeping on the sidewalk... But you gotta admit 2017 was pretty fun though and our starting pitching was pretty big this year. Take Monty the Yankees won 17 of the 30 games he started yet the Yankees only scored five runs or more 12 times and 4 runs or less 18 times. Nextor Cortez showed promised as did Luis Gil. Sevy looked sharp on return and should be built up by June in top form. Then there's the best arm in the system Luis Medina making huge gains with his control he'll likely be debuting by late 2022.

Figuring out SS, CF and signing a good lefty bat are the priorities. Yankees are stuck with Sanchez there simply isn't much better out there without giving up a lot so its rooting for the best Sanchez to show up.

Totally agree CardboardCurrency! I don't think Hicks is the answer for CF and Judge is so good in RF, do you keep Rizzo. I think Voit has to stay healthy or he is gone.

Rizzo gives you better defense and a balanced line up. So wouldn't mind flipping Voit for pitching. I don't think they're going to keep both Voit has a starter's ego.

@CardboardCurrency Bird was injury prone and had a .211 batting average in 186 games. This was spread throughout 4 years.

Frazier put up a .239 batting average in 228 games with the Yankees. He played last year. He also makes some awesome defensive plays. I'm going with Frazier on this one.

Hmmm, I don't recall any Clint Frazier amazing web gems his defense has been inconsistent at best.

Comparing the two player's last year in Pinstripes with a least 100 PA Bird's OPS+ 82 Frazier 76 both players were very similar in that they showed a lot of promise but injuries kept them off the field for extended periods. However, the stadium's foundations were literally shaken during this HR off Miller and was easily a Top 10 Yankees HR in the last two decades. I'm still going with Bird being more memorable in 20 years.

Bird also played a full healthy season for the Rockies AAA Isotopes and mashed his way to an all-star game. He's a FA with a big lefty swing the kind of low risk cheap bargains Cashman goes looking for and unlike Frazier his departure wasn't a bitter one.so the door is still open for Greg Bird with the lights on.
