Will there ever be a day we see a female pitch in MLB?
I posted this on the scf Facebook page so figured I post it here.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...93_story.html\
I could see it becoming a reality someday if a female was willing to master various pitches that many will never see such as the knuckleball, eephus, Shuuto. Gyrobal, and many others not to be named or possibly developed!

If they can reach mid 90's or higher. They won't even consider a pitcher that can't reach atl, east low 90's .
not very interested in the +trick pitches" knucleballers etc. Used to have quite a few before 2000. Now managers don't want to take that chance.
Would love to see it happen. Goalie in the NHL, placekicker in the NFL

I would agree most managers would not be willing to take a chance but if some trick specialist was consistent over and over why would you not take a chance? Time will tel just wonder how long lol.

I have this discussion with my wife sometimes. My answer is no. I don't think it will happen. "Could" it happen? Sure...anything is possible. There are thinks I just don't see happening, such as a woman pitching in the MLB, or playing in the NFL (other than a kicker). Transgender doesn't count in my opinion either. Has to a personal born as a female to be legit. There are also things that I don't see men ever doing. I will also go out on a ledge and claim that women are more intelligent than men, but that's a different discussion. I seem to get myself in trouble with my opinions, ha ha. No offense to anyone, just my 2 cents. I believe it when it happens, until then...

Most definitely... Just need a female Greg Maddux... I mean... woman throw as hard as him today..... they just need the upbringing and mindgame of wanting it like he did.... precision control.... confidence.. for HER to throw a ball at a similar Jose Canseco's face like Maddux did... a Woman can throw the speed needed... just needs the precision of Maddux and his Metaphorical balls.

The trouble with a trick specialist, after some time it's no longer a trick.
If you can't bring to 93-94 to the plate to make the hitter adjust, you can throw all the knuckleballs, changes you want.
They'll adjust.

No. Not only would she have to be as physically strong as her male competitors, she'd also have to be consistently better than them, meaning she would have had to spend her formative years pitching male-style instead of softball. I don't see a female pitcher beating out males in spring training scenarios. Unless its a short-term PR stunt but that tends to backfire (look at Vandy's placekicker).

Yes, it will happen. I don't know how long it will last, but it will occur. Afterall, years ago a "midget" played part of one game. He was so small that the pitcher couldn't throw a strike. He walked on four straight pitches, and he never batted again in MLB. So, if that could happen (and did), what will keep a female from playing in MLB ? It's just a matter of when, and for how long.
