And now they can no longer afford a far better center in Trocheck, so they will lose him as an FA this summer. Won't it be ironic if it is Montreal that signs him.

I might be in the minority here but I think Calgary is the most over rated team in the NHL. Here in Toronto I have heard time and time again that the Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Lindholm line is the best in hockey and yesterday I heard that Calgary is the best Canadian team in the NHL. They currently have 1 more point than the Leafs and there is no hotter line in hockey than the Matthews, Marner and Bunting line and I don't think anyone that is any sort of hockey fan will disagree with that. Marner has the most points since January and Matthews has the most goals. I am not hating on Calgary, they have a nice team, but why Toronto television is raving on the Flames is beyond me.

You need a goaltender that can steal games in the playoffs and Calgary has that in Markstrom. I am far more surprised that New York gets overlooked in the East because they also have a goaltender who can steal games for them. Colorado on the other hand may be the best regular season team but I am not convinced that they have the goaltending to get it done in the playoffs.

No arguments there, I am actually surprised that Markstrom doesn't get more talk about winning a Vezina since I believe he leads the league in SOs. Kuemper has played very well, but that might be more a product of the amazing team in front of him, that got better with adding Manson. The Rangers in my opinion have the best goalie in the league and a mobile and agile defence and plenty of offence and grit up front, so they are definitely a team to be reckoned with. Kopp is also a very good pick up as he can play up and down the line up and never complains about his role.

Funny you say that regarding Markstrom. I had a discussion with some coworkers yesterday and all they could talk about was Shesterkin winning the Vezina hands down. Statistically speaking, Markstrom has very comparable numbers and in my opinion, plays behind a weaker defence than Shesterkin.

Of course one only has to look at where they play to understand why Shesterkin gets all the press ...

Laine, Roslovic, Armia, Tanev, Petan, Copp, Lemeiux, Perrault, plus Chabot, Trouba, Myers, Forbert, Lewis, Poolman, Brossoit...and forgetting some probably, all former recent Jets now playing elsewhere.
    Bogosian and Kane also.

Seems like a lot of players? lol

Shesterkin has been great ever since he entered the NHL, but his defence is leaps and bounds better than the Flames with Fox as the anchor. All the love has gone to Shesterkin and Sarros and I don't remember the last time I heard Markstrom in the conversation. I guess too much talk about their top line and no one wants to spread the love?

I wish they could have kept Armia, Tanev, Copp, and Chiarot. It would be nice if they can sign Copp in the offseason, but probably not likely.
