    Playoffs Bumps

So, we're nearly through the second round of the playoffs....who do you all think is going to see a boost in their values based on their performance (so far) and who still hasn't even hit their ceiling?

Let's start with the obvious: McDavid and MacKinnon. No explanation necessary.

For the Oilers fans - are some of you jumping on Evander Kane cards based on what you're seeing him deliver?

Elsewhere, I know that Shesterkin is already gaining quite a following - if the Rangers can bust through the Canes' home fortress in Game 7, how big a bump will he get?

Any others that were a little under the radar before who are seeing some increased popularity?

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I would have to think that Hyman is also getting a boost out of Edmonton, still lots of Leaf fans that collect this guy not to much the Oiler fans who are probably trying to acquire his cards at the moment.

For the Canes, I believe that Seth Jarvis has been impressive so far (8pts in 13 games) and the fact that he is a rookie will only make him a more appealing target for collectors.

Finally, Zibanejad has been a monster for the Rangers and given the market he plays in, I think there will be more hype over his cards moving forward.

If the Lightning 3 peat, Stamkos and Vasilevskiy are 2 YG's I wish I had picked up. Kucherov is also playing well.
Imagine if Evander gets 20 goals?

I'm looking forward to being able to pick up Kane and Hyman cards showing them with the Oilers.

I picked up a Kane Cup ARP the day before he signed with the Oilers. It's gone up substantially in value since (I bought it for under $50) - pretty happy that I jumped on that one when I did.

Hyman, I did really well on too. I had a Future Watch of him, and sold it during the 2020-21 season. Got (I think $120). When the offseason hit, there was a little window where he "for sure leaving the Leafs" and "probably signing with the Oilers". I ended up buying another FW, but paid just $50 (Leaf fans already dumping his stuff, but Oilers fans weren't buying it yet).

So no big bumps for me yet. I've got a Draisaitl Cup ARP that might get to a point where I have to consider selling it, simply because it will be worth too much money for me not to (will be a great position to be in) lol. If Nuge has a big third round, I've got a few nice cards of his that I'd like to see take a bump in value.... and then I'll look to find new owners for.

Given that we are two games into the SC Final, I'd like to propose a couple of more players whose value has probably increased since the start of the playoffs.

I think that Makar's value continues to soar. I've sold some very rare cards of him in the past and looking at some of the recent prices, I probably should have held onto them lol. If he wins a Cup, I think his cards will start to approach Matthews-value territory.

Although he is often overshadowed IMHO by Makar and McKinnon, I think that Rantanen's cards will continue see a bump in his value as well. This guy is everywhere on the ice right now and it seems like he is involved in every play. I know that Rantanen is already a star player, but I think that these playoffs have helped showcase just how good this guy really is to the greater hockey community.

Even though they have been eliminated, both Zibanejad and Adam Fox had monster postseasons fro the Rangers. I have seen a few of Fox's cards jump dramatically in value since the playoffs have started and I don't think they will be regressing anytime soon. I lobbied for Zibanejad as a guy who would get a significant push from the playoffs and I don't think that has changed.

    .................................

On a side note, I just want to say that I continue to be disappointed by the fact that McDavid and Draisaitl exited the playoffs when they did. In 16 games, McDavid had 33 points and Draisaitl had 32. There are currently three players tied for 3rd play in playoff scoring with 24 points (and each player has played at least 16 games or more).

I cannot fathom how crazy McDavid's (and to a lesser extend, Draisaitl's) value would have jumped were he to have broken Gretzky's playoff scoring record. It was very possible that we could have seen him score 50 points in the playoffs. Oh well, it was not meant to be this year.
