NHL Entry Draft Discussion Thread
For the first time in 3 years, there will be a full house of spectators, fans, friends and family in attendance for the NHL Entry Draft.
There's a lot riding on the #1 selection for the hometown Montreal Canadiens, who have the opportunity to select first for the first time since 1980. Shane Wright has been projected to go #1 almost all year long, but many scouts are forecasters have been making a lot of noise recently about Juraj Slavkovsky, including TSN's Bob McKenzie, who ranked Slavkovsky first in his mock draft.
There's also a lot happening with Upper Deck, the official sponsor of the event, as they have a lot of activations happening throughout the weekend for fans in attendance. I cannot stress enough: if you're in the area and thinking of going, do it. I went in 2019 when it was in Vancouver and it was awesome.
Some of the things happening with UD:

It definitely a thing worth attending as there also some cool autographs (FREE) provided by Upper Deck and the NHLPA I believe. So, some cool youngsters and some hall of famers fro free. Of course there a limit so you will have to get there early and be prepared to sit in line LOL.
Any questions about the NHL Draft ask as I been to quite a few in the smaller markets as it more fan accessible. I cannot imagine how much of a madhouse it will be in Montreal.

I am very excited for tonight. Anticipation builds and hopefully the Habs do the "Wright" thing tonight.
Also, has anyone heard that Chicago is apparently peddling DeBrincat as a trade to move up and have a 1st round pick?

Huge trade for both teams. Sens get a real good young player, and Chicago gets an opportunity to stock the prospect cupboard a little bit.

How old is DeBrincat?? He reminds me a bit of Kane, and a 40 goal guy, seems like someone to rebuild around? What are the odds the 7th pick will be as good...seems odd but I'm not a GM.
On the other side, the Sens have a lot of young offensive talent now.

He's 24, He has 1 year left at $6.4 mil AAV then he's an RFA. The rumor was that the Hawks weren't planning on extending him. His next contract could be $9 mil +. We'll see how good he is without Kane feeding him the puck.
It gives the Hawks 7 picks in the first three rounds. I expect them to trade a couple of more players tonight or tomorrow.

All in on a rebuild makes sense to. Would also improve chances of getting Bedard next year.
