Evgeni Malkin
What team will want Malkin?
Would be weird to see him in another jersey.

Want? Who wouldn't.
Who can afford, is the real question. With so many teams pressed for cap space, and him likely to receive at least $6M on whatever deal he signs, the options are pretty limited. Will be an intriguing storyline tomorrow.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Yeah I know but you are right. I suppose most teams with cap room for him are rebuilding. He would help any team for the next 2- 3 years but I think he wants 4-5 years like Letang. So I was curious which teams would be a good fit. Would be amazing if a team like the Oiler's could find a way to sign him and he could support McD. I would sign him over Kane or most other players any day. Maybe just give him what he wants to win right now.
Actually as a fan would love the Caps to get him, they have 8.9 M in cap space...but they are an aging team, maybe he would fit right in? lol Just thinking out loud, I have no idea.

From what I have heard, it's not the amount but the term that is holding things up. Pens will gladly pay him for the next two years. The problem is he is 36 and has a bum knee. I think he and his agent want 4-5 years at least. I cannot see Pittsburgh taking that sort of hit, especially on a guy who is one bad hit from retiring. I hope he does stay in Pittsburgh, I've always been a fan of superstars remaining with their team for their entire careers.

Just announced that Malkin is re-upping with the Pens .... "Malkin late Tuesday night signed a $24.4 million, four-year deal that counts $6.1 million against the salary cap through 2026."
I'm kinda surprised that he got 4 years from the Pens however 6.1 might be a bargain if he can play 60+ games a season.

Glad he's staying a Penguin.

I agree. There's some guys you just want to see them play their whole career in a single uniform.

Crosby, Malkin and Letang should all retire as Pens and go into the HOF together as Pens.

As a side note, I must say I'm surprised that Malkin's cards don't sell for more coin than they do. Maybe it's playing in the shadow of Crosby that has depressed the market value for his cards?
