I thought his personality seemed a little "off."

I don't know nearly enough about the kid to have any real option (other than, he's got plenty of time to prove all his naysayers wrong).

He wasn't viewed as a consensus #1 pick going into the draft (though for many he was the top ranked prospect, and presumed #1).

If Montreal had passed on him, and he went #2 - I think the conversations right now would be very different. It would be much easier to suggest the Habs may have made a mistake, leaving such a talent on the draft board.

He was passed over three times though. The conversation isn't just about what Montreal saw (or didn't see) in him, but also what New Jersey & Arizona thought. Perhaps the Devils with two former #1 picks at Centre were committed to taking the defenseman - but when you're talking about picks this high..... doesn't "best player available" make the most sense anyway? Instead of drafting a dman, draft the center and then flip one of your centers for a defenceman.

Arizona passed on him? Not like they couldn't use a franchise center.

Have to think that he did, in fact, interview very poorly. If one team passed on him, whatever. Three teams did it though. Has to be something to that.
