NHL has two regular season games scheduled for Prague in the Czech Republic.
Prague has notified NHL that Russian players will not be allowed.
I don't think the teams scheduled ,, it escapes me as who they are, maybe Nashville is one,

I won't get too deep into politics here, but I'm not a fan of these bans.

Well.. I do not want to get into politics either but it makes sense at least for those European countries if not all of Europe. It would also make sense to not even have an NHL game in such countries.
It is quite unfortunate for the Russian athletes that cannot compete due to the war. I completely understand why they would be banned in many European countries and events and I can understand that some countries will take longer than others to lift the ban.
Even my Father, who is European, knew early on in the war that Putin's plan is to take if not all of Ukraine then at least the East and South and then go into Moldova and also Poland. Who would be next after that? Latvia Estonia and Lithuania. I can understand how Czechia is apprehensive towards Russians.
I well tell you... my PC would be a heck of a lot smaller with out the likes of Fedorov and Datsyuk bracing the NHL with their talent.Master List: Hidden Content

It is Nashville and San Jose. Here is a link to an article I read yesterday but I think it only impacts a couple of players.

I understand this is politics but I stand with Prague in them following thru with their demand. Too me it a totally acceptable ban as they have the right to do what they think is best in their interest. I do not think it is fair for the Russian players but again my thoughts or concerns are moot as they will do what they want. It is just sad that this had to happen imo as too many lives have been lost. At least Praque is making a stand and not costing lives.

Thanks for sharing the link.

Just read this from San Jose side:
The San Jose Sharks are closing ranks around their Russian teammates.
Yesterday, GM Mike Grier ignited something of an international incident when he declared, of the proposed Czech ban of Russian NHL players from the Sharks’ upcoming season-opening games in Prague, “Either we all go, or no one goes.”

What happens when one of the Russian players from the NHL gets conscripted.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

If that happened, he would refuse and could not return home. I doubt we see that, though.

If the USA had more respect for Russia after the fall of USSR and respected what they said about not expanding NATO in eastern Europe, we wouldn't be there. The only winners are the people with big money in the militaro-industrial complex. It's sad for the civilians affected :(

They have already conscripted professional athletes from other sports. Given Ovechkin's love for Putin and Russia are you sure he would not report if his name came up.
