MY how things have changed

Hello guys,

I was once a card collector years ago & thought about collecting again around a year ago. I bought a few packs, but realized that there was noone in my area that collected so there where absolutly no trade partners in my area. I am thinking about getting back in using a site like this, but is there enough action on this or any other site to make it interesting?

That being said, I dont have any cards to trade at the moment, lol

I do have one thing that may draw interest though. I recently moved in to a new house & found a Houston Oilers throwback mini helmet autographed by Warren Moon with a certificate from tri star.
Feel free to make card offers if you would like for the mini, I have nothing & have no idea what the trade value on such a thing is. I have no specific wants, just something to start a new trade box. Not really looking for commons, but rookies & oack oulled autos would probably peak my interest.

Just like to say welcome to the board, this site is great .... trading a plenty goes on here!! Best advice would be to get on ebay and start buying some singles as trade bait and maybe a box or two and go from there. Take a look at my photobucket (Link in my sig.) and see what I've accomplished from 3 months here. and really only been collecting 3 months!

That is a nice piece of memorabilia you have with that Helmet, you should get some good offers to start out with!

It seems you experienced what many have, few real collectors any more. You can get trades here and on other sites, however, most only want 100 dollar autos or gu cards. Even when they have nothing similar to trade for it. There are plenty of people selling though, so if you really want to collect you can often find good buying deals here. Personally I wouldnt recommend buying boxes to open unless you have money to burn. You can't find a decent box under 100, and the stuff you pull for the most part wont ever get that 100 back. its easier and cheaper just to buy the stuff you want from people who do open boxes.
That being said, I use to love the Oilers. I also use to like collecting. But prices and the lack of people trading for enjoyment rather than money continue to drive others away.
Just my thoughts.

Jermz, thanks for the kind words. Very nice start to a collection by the way. Im on ebay now looking. I hope the Moon draws me some nice trade material. I was absolutly stunned to find it in the top of a closet! its a beauty.

nick, not a bad idea. I just figured I would give it w whirl here first. I would love to get a nice trade under my belt here soon though instead of waiting to see, get the money, buy some new stuff & wait for it to come in.

I understand, but on this site you will more than likely be requested to send first, because you have less than 10 feedback. So by the time you actually recieve your cards, you could have slapped it on ebay and then hand picked the cards you wanted for it.
