Post Antoine Davis ends his college basketball career just THREE points short of all-time NCAA record

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/co...ng-record.html

NCAA scoring leader Antoine Davis fell just short of breaking Pete Maravich's long-held scoring record.

Davis, a graduate senior, scored 22 points as Detroit Mercy lost 71-66 to top-seeded and host Youngstown State in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League tournament on Thursday.

Davis, a graduate senior, increased his career total to 3,664 points, three shy of Maravich's record total. He had the chance to match it with just seconds left but his three-pointer missed.

The defeat likely was the final game of the season for the Titans (14-19, 9-11 Horizon). However, there is a slim chance Detroit Mercy could play in a postseason tournament.

While the team's losing record eliminates them from the NCAA Tournament and the second-rate NIT, Detroit could still play in the College Basketball Invitational tournament.

The CBI does not have a record requirement and if Detroit Mercy pays the $50,000 entry fee, any points Davis scores will count to the record.

Maravich set the record in three seasons (1968-70) at LSU. He played in the days before the implementation of the 3-point shot and the shot clock, and he reached the mark in just 83 games, averaging 44.2 points per game.

Davis has played in 144 games for the Titans, who are coached by his father, Mike Davis. The school already has retired Antoine Davis' jersey.

On Thursday, he also ended up just shy of the single-season record for most 3-point shots made. Stephen Curry set the record of 162 at Davidson in the 2007-08 season. Davis was just 4 of 16 from long range against Youngstown State, leaving him 159 of 386 (41.2 percent).

Pretty nice, but it's just the total points record, not PPG. He got extra time thanks to Covid and got an extra season to do it. His PPG marks are nowhere near Pistol's seemingly unbreakable 40+ a game back in the day.

What's interesting is that despite all these accomplishments, I can't find him anywhere on the NBA Draft Net mock draft lists. Was his comp that bad, does he not plan to pursue hoops further, or...? Just wondering what he will do once he's done with college hoops, and I couldn't really find much info on that when I tried looking it up a couple of days ago.
