1995 SP Joe Montana Trilogy variant question

Going through some old boxes, came across the Joe Montana Trilogy inserts, these were inserted in Collectors Choice, Upper Deck, and SP.

These are both from 1995 SP with the designation top left. But one card has the SP foil finish, the other does not have the foil finish. I realize these are low value cards, but curious if anyone knows about the non-foil version? Did a quick look on the Bay and didn't see any current or sold listings of non-foil.

I know I was disappointed when I pulled the "plain" version almost 30 years ago, just wondering about it.

If anyone can help or offer any input that would be great.

I've never seen one in all my years that didn't have the finish. Maybe just a printing error where they forgot to apply the foil finish?
