TTM items other than cards

Hi, I'm new to the site and this is my first post so I hope I'm doing everything right. I've sent just one TTM request in my life, and that was more than 30 years ago -- Tom Herr success c/o the Phillies at Veterans Stadium. All these years later, I'm planning to send to some others. I want to ask, is it extremely unlikely to get a return on items other than cards in a SASE? Are items such as baseballs and yearbooks that might require more handling or might not fit in a mailbox basically a lost cause even if sent to players with good records for returns? Thanks for any help and advice.

People mail baseballs/photos to athletes all the time. Years ago I had better luck getting bigger name players with that than with cards.
