    Old man new hobby

    Morning all,
Like the title says I am an old man, 70 starting a new hobby.
Some may think 70 is a little late in life to start something new but not me.
I am a big fan of the old USFL and the new one, the Birmingham Stallions being my favorite team.
Over the past few months I have managed to collect some 70 Stallions players cards from the past and present and have sent several out to past players for their autographs, none have been returned as of yet. Found a neat program online to help me keep track of them plus it allows me to scan and store an image also of the cards. Some of you may use it or have heard of it its called "Sports Card Database" put out by Inaka Software and in my opinion for $20.00 you can't beat it, he even let's you try on a limited bases the full version before you buy it.
Anyway that's my store, I look forward to my time here and have enjoyed it so far.
    Dave

This is the card that got me into the trading card collecting.

Thing is the database here is free which was created for members by members over the years as they add addresses for the TTM. Whatever you do enjoy the hobby as you say it is never too late. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Glad to see you on the boards. @Dave1227

Welcome to SCF, Dave. I was a USFL fan as well and have the complete Premier and second season sets. I'm curious, what was it about that particular card that started your collecting?

Good morning Joe and thanks for the reply and welcome.
What about this card made me start, I am one of those die hard USFL/Birmingham Stallions fans past and present league.
I got hooked back in 1983 while living in Birmingham. I became a season ticket holder in the beginning and followed and attended ever single game for the 83, 84 and 85 seasons. I also tried to make at least 3 road trips each year to out of town Stallions games. During the 84 season I moved but I would drive 160 miles each weekend there was a home game in B'ham to watch the Stallions play. Now I live in Memphis and because of age and mostly health I am unable to travel back to B'ham to attend the games but you can bet come this June 17th. when my Stallions play the Showboats this old man has already purchased my ticket and I will be there on the 50 yard line watching my Stallions sink the Showboats.
So you asked what about this card made me start collecting.....He is a Stallions player is what. Go Birmingham Stallions
