Building a treasure trove for my grand-kids
Hi, I'm new to this site and looking for confirmation and /or advice.
Back in 2015 I started thinking of what I could leave my grand-kids after I'm gone other than the obvious money.
I knew my son loved hockey cards and collected them at a young age.
So I started buying the Upper Deck Collector Tin's. I've purchased every UD1 and UD2 since 2015. They are still sealed and un-opened.
So my question is are UD Collector Tin's just or more valuable than individual cards? Reason I ask is because no one knows what cards are inside the tin.
If my grand-kids decide to sell them in 20-25 years will people buy UD Tin's without knowing it's content?
I'm learning a lot via this site but I'm still questioning if the investment I'm doing is good.
All the best.

"Thank you ALL for your insight and replies. I will let my grand kids decide what to do.
In the meantime, I've bought some Blaster Boxes and opened those just to get that feeling everyone keeps talking about ripping those packets open and also to feel the quality of the cards. I was not disappointed.
Thanks again and wishing you all the best."

@Chakakin
People will always buy unopened product. The rookie class is what is going to determine the value of the tins. Example of a good tin:

A pretty good decent return even if you one was to only get 200 for the tin but remember it McDavid rookie year that year and that particular series. If you keep doing it there will be some rookie classes that are just as good. As Crosby and Ovy would be better than McDavid so there going to be some good ones with a few that really tank when no rookies standout. As the others said they will have to make a decision to open them or sell them unopened. Hopefully, they appreciate the gesture as any hockey collector would love it for sure LOL.

Chakain- One of the nice things about leaving the tins unopened is that your grandkids can decide if they want to open them or sell them unopened in the future.
Always Looking for:
A) Graded Vintage (Pre-1980) (BGS, BVG, PSA, SGC) in all sports
B) Graded True RC's (No inserts or parallels) (BGS, PSA, SGC) in all sports
C) Certified Auto and GU cards of players from the 70's and further back in all sports
